The worlds most advanced limiter
Going far beyond what's traditionally offered with limiter plug-ins, the Oxford Limiter is the ultimate tool for any budding studio producer, mixing or mastering engineer. Divided into three succinct sections, input, pre-process and output all include a specified feature-set to get the most from your mixes.
Up to +18dB of gain can be added on the input stage to drive even the quietest of mixes to the limit if required before moving into the pre-process stage. With lookahead technology, variable attack and release times, Oxford Limiter analyse the audio signal before any processing is applied. Lookahead functionality combines with up to +10dB of soft knee limiting to ensure that regardless of the level, the limiting effect will be minimised to ensure a transparent and clean effect, ideal for mastering applications.
Where the Sonnox Limiter differs is the dedicated output section that allows you to monitor peak levels with much more accuracy than ever before whilst manipulating the overall output level for broadcast specific requirements.
All of the functionality is paired with a stunning sound quality that's unheard of in limiting plug-ins. Regardless of how hard you need to push your settings, the Oxford limiter preserves clarity, and definition and maintains stereo image, particularly in the low frequencies of your mix.
True peak limiting
Encompassing the full gambit of limiting, the Oxford Limiter lets you push your tracks to the edge without ever worrying about unwanted side effects. Expertly designed, the Sonnox Limiter features Safe Mode to ensure that your level will never reach above -0dBfs in the digital domain, regardless of your settings or how hard you push the input.
The plug-In is a true peak limiter that offers recently enhanced levels of processing and metering accuracy. The result is that you get to see and automatically correct otherwise invisible reconstruction overloads - and conform to the accepted industry ITU-R BS.1770-4 standard.
The final piece of the puzzle
Mastering engineers face unique challenges when carrying out their work. Achieving tonal balance whilst creating competitive tracks that meet loudness demands. The Oxford Limiter provides the ultimate solution through the unique Enhance feature. Using subtle tube-like saturation algorithms, Enhance can increase the perceived loudness of a track whilst maintaining the dynamic range needed to let your track breathe. By combining the Enhance control with input gain, you can create a balanced master that hits loudness goals whilst retaining all the detail and punch from the mix.
Where the Oxford Limiter presents an opportunity for mastering engineers is in the output section. An output level control allows you to deliver broadcast appropriate levels based on the requirements of your project. For TV and film, you can set your output level to the appropriate -10dB level with no impact on how your project sounds depending on the rest of your settings.
As the final piece of the puzzle, the Oxford Limiter provides a comprehensive set of dithering options to monitor in real-time the effects of the dithering before mixing down your session. Five different dithering types can be set to 16 or 24-bit with variable depth controls to tune it perfectly to your project.
Features
- Transparent pre-process section preserves detail and low-end
- Using only the enhance feature, you can increase the perceived loudness without using input gain to drive the level
- Add punch to your sounds, while glueing them together for a more cohesive sound
- Ideal for both individual track or instrument group mixing as well as mastering applications
- Reconstruction Meter button engages a unique metering option to visualise D/A clipping levels
- Auto Comp fixes recon errors without losing overall loudness: conforming to the industry's true peak measurement standard (ITU-R BS.1770-4)
- Control the attack up to 1ms down to 0.05ms for lookahead purposes
- Reduce the impact of the limiting with up to 10dB of soft knee limiting via the slider to minimise how much the effect is heard
- Add saturation with the Enhancement control for added volume perception and fatness to your sound, ideal for producing electronic music with pumping effects
- Includes a collection of helpful presets to use as jumping-off points before tweaking to get your desired outcome
- Compatible with virtually every genre of music or audio
- Safe Mode ensures you will never clip the output, regardless of how far it's pushed
- Maintain the peak level of your signal on the metering using the Peak Hold function
- Anything from clean and gentle to aggressive and in your face
- Audition and apply TPDF dither for 24-bit and 16-bit output word lengths with four types of variable noise shaping
- Four variable-strength noise shaping modes for use with highly dynamic program material
- Increase density, presence, and clarity on group buses and masters
