RP-Delay
Explore your creativity with multiple delay lines
Flexible enough to be used in virtually any context, the RP-Delay isn't your ordinary delay plug-in. The architecture of RP-Delay is for six delay lines, paired in groups of two to create expressive and exciting repeats. Each of the six lines can be used together or individually, combining with the wide range of routing possibilities, RP-Delay is in a different world altogether from traditional stereo delays. Split into A, B and C for each of the two delay lines that are paired together, this brings you the six delay lines.
A true sound-designers dream, RP-Delay offers multiple routing options, offering yet more layers and ways to transform your dry sound into an expansive and interesting part of your composition. Mono, Stereo, Dual Mono, Channel Split, Split Multi, Serial Multi and much more modes are available. As complex or as simple as you need it to be, RP-Delay can replace any of your existing delay plug-ins with ease.
As the delay lines are grouped in two, this enables you to create classic ping-pong effects by altering the delay time of the left and right channels. Not only do you have control over the delay time, but you can also adjust sync, multi-mode filters and distortion parameters for the delay line. Setting your delay to sync (or not) to your music is quick and easy thanks to the easily labelled GUI that offers a visual representation of your signal path to help you to better understand the often complex world of stereo routing.
Expressive Reverse mode
Undoubtedly, one of the most creative and unique features of the RP-Delay is the Reverse function. Having this as a mode directly onboard the delay plug-in stops you from needing to process your tracks individually before making any reverse delay effects. Instead, simply use the mode onboard and create the perfect audio reverse for your productions. Using the time adjustment control, you can set the length at which your audio will reverse. Ideal for vocals, synths or even drum cymbal swells, you can create an elongated tail to lead into your track. Always nice for a ballad, you can sweep your vocals with a huge reverse effect before leading to the main verse for tremendous impact. Experiment for yourself using the onboard presets, crafted by industry professionals in both Send and Insert mode to see how a Reverse Effect can impact your music.
Trigger happy modulation
What sets RP-Delay apart from the crowd is the panel found at the bottom of the interface. Here, RP-Delay shows off the true processing and creative power it contains, boasting the envelopes, LFO and step-sequencer. Starting with the modulation, RP-Delay lets you flex your creative muscle, employing eight modulator sources comprised of four envelopes and four LFOs. Adding modulation to your delay is a sure-fire way to get a unique and often exciting sound as it goes beyond what is traditionally possible with hardware units or stompboxes. A randomised option for LFO modulation opens up a new world of possibilities with sounds evolving as the LFO reacts to your input source, helping you to achieve the otherworldly sound you're looking for.
The onboard step-sequencer pulls no punches in terms of letting you find unique sounds for your composition or mix. Made up of 16 steps with a swing function, the RP-Delay's step sequencer enables you to create complex rhythmic movements in your repeats or can be used to trigger modulation sources per step. If you've been searching for the perfect way to create customised repeats tailored perfectly to your production.
Not one to leave out functionality for live performers, the Rob Papen RP-Delay can have the parameters assigned to your MIDI controller, allowing you to seamlessly play in unique modulation sources on-the-fly.
RP-Verb 2
Complete control over your space
Taking all the best sounds from RP-Verb 1, Rob Papen RP-Verb 2 distils the number of rooms down to 10 spaces. Hand-selected for their versatility and unique character, with RP-Verb 2 you can choose between three hall types, three room types, two vintage types and two outdoor spaces to place your sound within. Perfect for just about any instrument type that comes into your projects, RP-Verb 2 can almost be entirely customised to get the right sound for your mix and genre.
The ultimate tool for sound designers, RP-Verb 2 features a wealth of flexible shaping options that can be positioned in different places within the signal path to carve the right tonal palette. A distortion module with four unique styles is positioned first in the chain, offering power, saturation, fuzz and foldover distortion types to add punch, grit and character to your sound before expanding in your reverb signal. Perfect for drum shells, adding distortion before the reverb will distort the reverb tail of your sound to cut through a mix with ease.
Crucial to getting your reverb to sit within your mix, a three-band EQ has been included that can be positioned pre or post-effect. Low and high-frequency shelves combine with a sweepable midrange to either carve the instrument sound that is then processed through your reverb or can be used to tailor the wet reverb effect to your mix.
The ensemble module has been taken from the original RP-Verb 1, offering a six-voice wall of sound with a variable speed rate control. Spreading your sound through multiple voices gives a wider stereo image and richer tone to help add density to mono lead vocals or small synthesizer sounds.
Both late and early reflections are provided as individual modules within the plug-in, offering complete control over the shape and dimensions of the room along with the characteristic of the reverb. Early reflections can be placed to feed directly into the front of the reverb tail or can be placed on an individual direct line, allowing for interesting wet/dry blending to create a hybrid space. For rhythmic complexities, late reflections can be tempo-synced to your host device and much like early reflections can be placed on an independent direct line or fed into the front of the reverb.
The heart of RP-Verb 2 is the reverb module, offering a tremendous amount of control over your chosen space. Space size and reverb length can be manipulated to offer huge, expansive soundstages that can place your instrument in another word. Each of the 10 spaces on offer has been tuned to perfection with tempo-sync pre-delay for more rhythmical rigidity that follows your music, allowing for expressive reverb tones.
Add some experimental reverse to your reverb
Unlike any other reverb plug-in on the market, RP-Verb 2 offers a unique reverse function. Much like other reverse functions within Rob Papen plug-ins, this encourages you to experiment with unique sounds that transcend a simple reverb space. You can create rhythmic, synced grooves that accent the rhythm of your track or it can be used as a creative effect to add tension to a sparse single vocal track. The reverb is recorded within the grid and then played back based on the reverb and hold times that you set. Attack and Decay parameters are included to soften the envelope of the reverse reverb, whilst the mix control lets you blend between fully reversed sound or a blend.
Enter the modulation matrix
Mappable to virtually every parameter within the plug-in, RP-Verb 2 includes an envelope follower, envelope and LFO/Modulation matrix. The Envelope follower is ideal for creating gated drum sounds that respond to the incoming audio signal. A gate can be used to shut off the reverb tail depending on the input signal level, making it easy to achieve the signature drum sound of the '80s without ever opening another plug-in. The LFO and modulation matrix allows you to connect to virtually any source and destination in the plug-in. Try exploring with the reverse functionality and LFO modulation to create truly unique sounds that simply aren't possible with another reverb plug-in.
