Flexible positioning – perfect for interviews and more
The MiCreator Y-Lav lavalier microphone is specifically designed for easy attachment to clothing or other similar surfaces. You can simply spread apart the metal clip and snap the microphone into place. Due to its omnidirectional characteristic, the microphone is capable of picking up sound equally well from all directions.
For optimal isolated voice recording, it is recommended to position the microphone as close to the mouth as possible. Experimenting with different positions can help achieve the best sound quality and voice isolation. To prevent breathing noises, the microphone comes with a windshield that should be used at all times, even in windless environments, without changing the sound quality.
Onboard headphone jack
The MiCreator Y-Lav can be easily connected to a device with a TRRS socket, such as the "in/out" socket on the MiCreator Studio. This connection allows the microphone signal to be transmitted to the end device, while also routing the playback to the headphone jack on the MiCreator Y-Lav. By connecting headphones to this jack, users can listen to other participants in a video conference, enhancing communication.
Additionally, it is possible to connect the microphone to an end device with a microphone jack, like a camera, using a Y-adapter (e.g., the HSA6 adapter included with the MiCreator Satellite). However, it is important to ensure that the end device provides the necessary power - if unsure, consult the manufacturer of the device.
Optimal gain settings
The MiCreator Y-Lav does not have internal amplification, which means that the volume depends on the end device it is connected to. The recommended amplification for capturing spoken words is typically around 20 to 30dB, which most devices, such as laptops, can achieve. The specific amplification settings can vary, so it is advisable to consult the manufacturer's instructions for your particular device. Likewise, the volume of the playback can be adjusted according to personal preference on the end device.
Using the MiCreator Y-Lav with MiCreator Studio
When using the MiCreator Y-Lav in conjunction with the MiCreator Studio, which features a USB-C® connection, it is designed to provide optimal amplification for the microphone. It is recommended to refer to the "Adjusting Microphone Gain" section for the optimal microphone gain settings when used with the MiCreator Studio.
Additionally, when connecting the two devices via the "in/out" jack, the second headphone output of the MiCreator Studio is automatically redirected to the 3.5mm TRS jack of the MiCreator Y-Lav. This allows for convenient interview setups with minimal wiring, enabling both individuals to receive audio feeds through their headphones.
Complete with cloth bag for transport
For safe transportation, always use the included cloth bag to carry the MiCreator Y-Lav. Be cautious not to stretch or extend the cable excessively, as this can potentially damage it. Keeping the microphone in the cloth bag helps protect it from any potential harm along the way, ensuring its longevity and optimal performance.
