Ibanez grew from the ashes of Hoshino Gakki, a Japanese musical instrument company founded in 1908. They began importing guitars in the 1930’s and later manufacturing them. In 1950 Ibanez started manufacturing electric guitars and in 1971 produced guitars of eclectic design as well as affordable replicas of Gibson and Fender guitars. By 1980 Ibanez had established itself as a major brand.

Today Ibanez are associated with some of the best guitar players in the world and widely used by rock and metal guitarists. Ibanez GRG series was developed for players who want Ibanez quality in a more affordable package and is specially designed for metal players.
