Ibanez first made their mark on music in the late 1980s, when renowned artists such as Steve Vai and Frank Zappa began using their electric guitars. Today, Ibanez manufacture guitars for all levels of playing and continue to produce radical designs and finishes, as well as making a variety of 7-String, 8-String and semi-acoustic models. Ibanez signature range is also very popular featuring Steve Via's JEM505 signature electric guitar. Although Ibanez guitars have a close association with rock and metal, their acoustic guitars and amps and their wide range of effects pedals (including the highly regarded Tubescreamer) mean the brand appeals to a wide and diverse range of musicians. |

Ibanez grew from the ashes of Hoshino Gakki, a Japanese musical instrument company founded in 1908. They began importing guitars in the 1930’s and later manufacturing them. In 1950 Ibanez started manufacturing electric guitars and in 1971 produced guitars of eclectic design as well as affordable replicas of Gibson and Fender guitars. By 1980 Ibanez had established itself as a major brand. Today Ibanez are associated with some of the best guitar players in the world and widely used by rock and metal guitarists. Ibanez GRG series was developed for players who want Ibanez quality in a more affordable package and is specially designed for metal players. Ibanez Artcore is another popular series of electric guitars giving a warmer tone with more of a punch, ideal for rock guitarists. Ibanez also manufacturer a wide and eclectic selection of bass and acoustic guitars, their BTB bass guitar series are popular for their neck-thru construction and deeper cutaways for enhanced playability.
