With Melodyne, you have the ability to save a take that has been spoiled by a small error. Whatever the error may be, whether it's intonation, timing, loudness or pitch, every aspect of performances can be corrected. A range of tools allows for minimal changes to be made, bringing your audio as close to perfect as your desire.
Melodyne’s algorithm is extremely musical, this allows any changes to sound natural. The algorithm is also capable of extracting extreme levels of data from audio. Notes, phrases, rhythms and noises in Melodyne become raw material that you can stretch, reshape, layer and transform. So, if you want to shift notes up multiple semitones, you can transpose its pitched components alone meaning you keep the natural timbre.
DNA (Direct Note Access)
It’s never been easier to get the correct pitch. Direct Note Access is a technology that allows you to manipulate an audio's frequency whilst retaining the tone of the original sound. This provides users as an extremely accurate pitch-corrector that can edit individual components of audio. This is ideal for vocalists as it helps to correct and articulate the pitch of a vocal take word by word.
Tempo detection
Melodyne 4 detects tempos and tempo fluctuations in recorded music with utter reliability. This is ideal for musicians and technicians alike thanks to the ability to edit tempos even with freely recorded music (not recorded to a metronome). Simply drop your track into an empty document and you’ll get a tempo map - similar to those in a DAW software or Pro Tools.
The Tempo Editor also allows the 'breathing' tempo of live recordings to be carried over to another. You'll be able to set an overall tempo for a set of songs or audio clips. So, it's great for live recording and demos. This lets you rein in any runaway tempos that are normally associated with live recordings or demo tracks.
