About MIDI Controllers

A MIDI Keyboard, or Master Keyboard, is a digital device that sends MIDI data to other devices capable of receiving it. Sharing our passion for music technology, Gear4music.com caters for all computer musicians. The most common use of a MIDI keyboard is to control software instruments used on a computer. Other uses include sending program changes to DAW music software, so that you can control a number of parameters without the need to use the mouse – the Novation Launchpad allows users to launch clips within Ableton Live totally mouse-free and combined with a MIDI keyboard such as the M-Audio Axiom, can simulate a fully-fledged hardware studio setup. Today, nearly all keyboards and controllers use MIDI that is transmitted and connects directly via USB, as well as being powered by USB – like the Korg Nano controllers.
