Created with the demands of modern production in mind. The JBL 104 Reference Monitors are compact and highly portable. Which means if you don’t have a permanent workstation or you take your own setup to each job, the 104s should be your go-to. They’ll even fit in your backpack.

Part of the portability stems from the 104s having an active slave/master build. Meaning the left monitor is the master monitor and powers the right monitor. The master monitor features a convenient front-panel volume control that is easily accessible from your sitting position. It also features three sets of inputs (RCA, 1/4-inch TRS Balanced, and 1/8-inch Aux) letting you connect to a variety of devices players and professional audio equipment.

Tried and tested JBL technology

Across the world, revered artists and recording studios use JBL loudspeakers and monitors. They’ve got a reputation for high-end audio performance and reliability. With the 104’s, JBL essentially miniaturised those monitoring capabilities.

The most prominent sign of that, is the new coaxial driver design. Combining a 4.5-inch LF driver and a .75-inch soft-dome HF driver. Resulting in an ultra-wide frequency range, with no colouration. Those drivers are then housed in a contoured speaker cone. That allows the 104s to provide high-levels of playback volume without distorting.

The beating heart - a 60 watt Class D power amplifier, distributes 30 watts per speaker for optimal efficiency. The speaker can be driven up to 104db SPL (peak) without distortion, making it one of the best monitors in its class for upper sound levels.

Day-to-day practicality

Even better, the 104s are easier to get setup for optimal performance. A super wide ‘sweet spot’ and smooth-off-axis response means finding the sweet spot is simple. The result is exceptional audio fidelity, capturing the subtle nuances of your source audio, whether it be video or music. The 104 Reference Monitors have also been optimised for desktop placement. Conventional monitors can incur unwanted resonance when placed on desks or wooden surfaces. The unique design combats this phenomenon.

That means the 104s can deliver accurate, balanced audio anywhere. Capable of anything from mixing music and video production to online gaming.
