Expand your studio with ease
If your current audio interface is running out of inputs, the ASP880 provides a straightforward solution. Connecting via ADAT, it adds eight channels of Audient microphone preamplification to your existing setup without requiring a complete studio overhaul. This extra capacity allows you to record larger ensembles, full drum kits and band sessions more comfortably.
The compact 1U design helps conserve rack space while still delivering a substantial increase in recording capability. For project studios looking to grow alongside new recording demands, the ASP880 provides additional channels without adding unnecessary complexity to your workflow.
Capture every source with confidence
At the heart of the ASP880 are eight Audient Console mic preamps derived from the company's ASP8024-HE recording console design. These preamps use a discrete circuit architecture that focuses on low noise and low distortion while preserving the detail of the original source. With up to 60dB of gain available, they can accommodate a wide range of microphones and recording situations.
Phantom power supports condenser microphones while polarity reverse controls help address phase issues during multi-mic sessions. Pad switches also provide extra headroom when working with louder instruments, helping you maintain a clean signal path from source to recording.
Shape signals before conversion
The ASP880 offers several tools for refining audio before it reaches your DAW. Eight dedicated insert points allow you to connect external processors such as compressors and equalisers directly into the signal path before analogue-to-digital conversion. This makes it easy to capture recordings with your preferred outboard equipment already applied. Variable impedance controls are particularly useful for ribbon microphones, helping preserve their intended character and frequency response. Adjustable high-pass filters ranging from 25Hz to 250Hz help remove unwanted low-end content, reduce proximity effect and tighten recordings before they are committed to disk.
Flexible connectivity for modern studios
Beyond microphone recording, the ASP880 includes two JFET instrument inputs designed to emulate the input stage of traditional valve amplifiers. Plug in guitars, basses, keyboards or drum machines directly and start recording without additional DI boxes. High-quality converter technology ensures detailed analogue-to-digital conversion across every channel.
Additionally, the unit can function as a standalone A-D converter using its ADC inputs, allowing signals from external microphone preamps or other hardware sources to be converted and routed digitally. Digital output options include ADAT, AES and S/PDIF, giving you plenty of flexibility when integrating the ASP880 into a wide range of studio environments.
