A grand construction
Taylor's Grand Orchestra body shape. It has no limits. In fact, it is Taylor's largest and most powerful guitar shape, allowing you access to a world of sublime dynamics and brilliant sound projection. Thanks to fantastic responsiveness, you and your guitar will feel like one, it is a part of you and your sound will be beautifully unique. Even with the softest of touches, this guitar will deliver. Inside lies V-class bracing which optimises vibration for enhanced volume and sustain, giving you wonderful textures and overtones.
Timeless tonewoods
Sitka spruce has been relied upon for years due to its wondrous tonal qualities, and so Taylor have taken full advantage of this magnificent tonewood by using it for the 618e's body top. Offering a wide dynamic range and crisp articulation, Sitka spruce ensures that every note is released from the strings with glistening definition. It is perfect for any passionate gigging and recording musician. As it ages, the sonic capabilities of Sitka spruce become more varied and enticing. Each time you play, its tone opens up - and so do the possibilities of the 618e. Solid maple back and sides have been revoiced for greater warmth and even more clarity. The result? A gloriously balanced sound that lends itself to all fingerpicking and strumming techniques.
Designed for flawless fretting
Lose yourself in sumptuously smooth fretting and silky sound. The Taylor 618e features a hard rock maple neck, allowing you a dreamy playing experience that will never tire. The West African Crelicam ebony fretboard attached on top further enhances your playing experience thanks to its naturally high oil content which gives it a lusciously smooth finish. What makes the ebony used on Taylor guitars completely unique is the process of sustainable and socially responsible sourcing that has led to it being in your possession, made possible by Taylor's Ebony Project which takes place in Cameroon.
Ebony is an extremely responsive tonewood that offers a beautifully bright sound, making it a gorgeous accompaniment to spruce and maple. Project your music with purpose and brilliant volume, ebony's snappy and crisp attack ensures that every single note cuts through the mix astonishingly well, leaving nothing unheard.
Amplify your sound
One of the most compelling features of this guitar is the Expression System 2 that is mounted discreetly. Featuring three pickup sensors, this electronic system captures more acoustic dynamics than ever before. Combined with Taylor's 'professional audio' preamp, this guitar allows you to plug into an amp, PA system, or recording software whilst always experiencing glorious acoustic tonal properties. Sculpt your tone with three soft rotary controls and achieve a sound that is well and truly distinctive.
