The Original Wah Tone
The Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah Pedal is based on a 60s Vox wah, that was itself inspired by 60s big band trumpet player, Clyde McCoy. It aimed to mimic his 'wah-wah' mute effects and recreate it for guitarists of the day, favoured by players such as Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton.
The Modern Recreation
Michael Fuller (Fulltone President) took his vintage Vox wah collection and analysed every aspect to recreate that recognisable 60's wah tone. He used a higher quality tuned inductor to give a more consistent performance than the original pedal could ever produce at the time. The Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah Pedal uses the most authentic '60's Vox type inductor available, hand-made using the exact same wiring as the 60's model but with a greatly reduced level of noise interference. The Clyde Deluxe is also built with a potentiometer just like the 60s Icar brand pot, which has a life-cycle of 500,000 turns and offers a vocal-like performance, with a fast transition at the mid-point. Here you can achieve classic wah tones with modern reliable performance.
Three Modes
The Vox Clyde Deluxe Wah features three modes to choose from, giving you increased versatility to suit more genres of music. "Wacked" provides you with a wah tone reminiscent of the Colorsound Wah, with extreme deep bass response and more of a "Woooooow" tone. "Jimi" recreates the classic 60s wah, giving you a vocal-quality and extremely musical wah tone. "Shaft" mode brings you forward a decade and delivers the true 70s disco-style wah. Here is a pedal that can span the decades and will be suitable for many different musical genres and applications.
Buffer
When the Clyde Deluxe is turned on, it features a switchable high-quality JFET buffer/booster circuit, allowing you to kick up the level to stand out during solos. This is useful during high gain playing and also isolates it from any pedal following it in the signal chain. When the pedal is off, it operates a true bypass for a pristine signal. Michael Fuller designed this buffer to not detract from your tone in any way, and it adds a nice pro feature to solve a common problem with wah pedals.
