About Flea
Flea is primarily known as the bassist and co-founding member of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers. Flea’s funk and jazz-influenced basslines helped propel the RHCPs to the top of the rock and alternative charts, while redefining the role of bass in the modern era. Classic & Lightweight Alder Body
The Fender Flea Jazz Bass is constructed with a lightweight alder body, producing a resonant and balanced tone with plenty of clarity and body. The tonewood provides a decent amount of sustain, creating bright, sizzling highs, excellently rounded lows, and beefy mids. Fender have used alder as their tonewood of choice for electric guitars since the 1950s, as the balanced response and slight upper middle definition makes it perfect for rock and blues. A 4-saddle HiMass bridge improves the sustain and resonance of each note, enhancing the basses attack to create a powerful tone that’s full of personality. Vintage style hardware and a classic shell pink finish offers an authentic appearance to really bring a distinct look and sound to your live setup.
Comfortable 'C' Maple Neck & Fingerboard
The maple neck and fingerboard combination adds tightness and cut to the guitars overall tone, delivering sizzling highs and firm lows. The pairing of a maple neck and matching fingerboard work together to produce bright characteristics with a snappy attack in the mid-range. When the strings are hit hard, the wood offers a punchy tones, with a slight gnarly edge to it, but can provide excellent clarity with light to medium playing. Its modern “C” shape offers comfortable playability, while its 12-16” compound radius fingerboard and 20 medium jumbo frets provide a familiar feel when playing.
Resonant Bone Nut
Featuring a carefully fitted bone nut the Flea Jazz Bass delivers increased resonance and brighter tonality. When compared to traditional plastic and Tusq materials used to construct guitar nuts, bone improves the vibration transfer between the string and tuning machines without dampening the tone.
