The AJ-220SCE electro-acoustic guitar, one of Epiphone's best selling acoustic guitars from Epiphone boasts quality and value, which has made it as popular as it is. The Advanced Jumbo style was first produced at the legendary Kalamazoo factory in the 1930s and has been a musician favourite. The sound of an Advanced Jumbo boasts a commanding quality, yet it's also nicely balanced, making it a great guitar for stage and studio. This guitar features a nice cutaway and Shadow's new Performer Tuner preamp system. Also, this guitar has a nice Vintage Sunburst finish.
Robot Self-Tuning Technology
But what is with the Robot name? This is where guitar technology will really astound you. The Robot Tuning Lite System provides the guitar with the ability to self-tune. That's right, if you're a performer who has trouble with tuning, this system helps keep your tuning locked in tightly on the right notes.
But what about changing to different tunings? The tuner features 12 presets and 6 user presets, so, with just a button touch, you can set into a different tuning and play your next song!
Performer Tuner Preamp
The new Performer Tuner preamp has an array of controls to help you suit the guitar to your playing style. It has a built-in Chromatic Tuner, Master Volume, Bass, Treble, Low Battery indicator, and a Phase switch which helps eliminate unwanted feedback. There's also a Tuner/Mute button which can be useful when plugging in or unplugging your guitar. The Performer Tuner preamp uses two 2032 lithium watch batteries that provide lightweight, but provide significantly longer life than old-fashioned, heavy 9-volt batteries.
NanoFlex Low-Impedance Pickup
The AJ-220SCE is equipped with Shadow's proprietary NanoFlex low-impedance pickup. Unlike a piezo, the NanoFlex's has a unique and flexible sensing material which boasts integrated active electronics and picks up not only string vibrations but also top and body vibrations. So you get a truly acoustic tone without the harshness of piezo pickups.
Great Design and Great Tone
The AJ-220SCE has a bell-like shape, with a larger lower bout and a smaller, round upper bout. It has a focused and balanced tone, with deep, rich, and loud bass bass, along with crisp highs that cut through. But it also has a clear mid-range that's never muddy like a square-shouldered dreadnought. The Advanced Jumbo acoustic guitar is often described as the perfect instrument for the soloist or singer/songwriter with a sound that blends nicely with vocals. The cutaway also makes it easier to reach the higher frets.
Quality Construction
This guitar has a solid Sitka Spruce top is which not only sounds great at the beginning but actually improves with age and lots of playing time. The back and sides are made of select mahogany. The solid mahogany neck is glued to the body using TiteBond glue and a traditional dovetail neck joint, providing great stability, tone, and sustain. The neck's 1960's SlimTaper D-profile has a smooth, fast, satin finish which is easy to play and on top is the rosewood fingerboard.
