500w of bass weight
The bane of a powerful amp is normally the weight. Luckily Ashdown transferred that to the bottom end. Without sacrificing tone, they've made a powerful amp that can be carried easily, and it really saves your back - it's remarkable just how much bass power has been packed into such a lightweight combo.
Boasting more features than a cinema
The RM-C210T-500-EVO II is adaptable with a depth of malleability that will embrace everything from down-tuned metal to tight, percussive funk. Simply and easily. Ashdown have become famous for their one knob sub-harmonic generator. It gives a sense of physicality that makes you feel like the room could collapse, and depth to the tone that never makes it feel loose or undefined.
Next is the one-knob compressor. No fuss, no messing about, and a huge result. Just adding a little bit of compression will boost the low end while keeping the volume level and not clipping the peaks. It also adds sustain to notes, letting them sing a little longer - especially effective with the sub-harmonic generator engaged. This is very reactive to the 'bass' control. Workable with both passive and active instruments, you can set the input gain accurately with the VU meter, making sure you keep as many dynamics as you want.
A simple but highly adaptable EQ
At its core, you have a three band EQ which is pretty standard: bass, middle, and treble. But you get an additional two rotary knobs that allow you to sculpt the mid-range further, altering the character and voice of your amp. It's worth keeping these additional knobs at 'noon' to begin with and adjusting if needs be. And it's got another trick up its tonal sleeve - the 'shape' button. Engaged, it adds a boost to the subs at 50hz of 8dB and a further 10dB up at 10khz. It gives that extra bit of presence to your music - great for adding fatness to your sound.
Amazing emulated valve grind
Ashdown have meticulously crafted a valve overdrive that will take you from a subtle warmth and breakup to a thick overdrive. This is very interactive with the input volume which again makes the VU meter very useful so you know how far you're pushing the amp. The overdrive is processed in parallel with the clean signal, so the bass end of the spectrum is sustained.
Great connectivity options
Continuing with the feature set, Ashdown have implemented a DI that is post-EQ, post-FX, making sure all your sound gets sent to a mixer or desk. There is also a headphone pre-amp out for playing in your bedroom completely silently with perfect tone replication. You can also use the headphone-out in conjunction with the line-in for jamming to tracks without disturbing the neighbours. If you need more power? The RM C210-500-T EVO II features a speaker-out at 8 ohms, giving you further depth if needed.
Ashdown-made Whiteline drivers and cab
This is where the combo saves its weight. Using lightweight ply, Ashdown saves an enormous amount of weight while keeping the integrity of the sound. The Whiteline drivers handle the load with ease, giving deep extending lows with a richly textured and dynamic midrange.
