Stunning AA Grade Maple Top

The high-performance Gibson SG delivers an elegant twist to the Standard series guitars, adding an AA grade figured maple top finished in eye catching cobalt fade to create an incredibly stylish and unique instrument. While the flamed maple provides the Gibson SG with its amazing aesthetic, the mahogany body offers a beautifully sweet, warm tonal characteristic with plenty of punch for added depth. Its twin horn cutaway design delivers the classic SG style, providing players with incredible access to the upper frets for total freedom across the entire fingerboard.

Slim Taper Mahogany Neck

The SG Standard not only offers a comfortable body but features a slim tapered neck profile to deliver an incredibly smooth performance. The mahogany neck provides the ultimate comfort with its slim profile, and allows for fast and comfortable soloing. As well as providing fluid hand flexibility, the mahogany wood helps enhance the natural warmth of the body, creating a high-end saturated in sparkling sweetness and a thick low-end response. The addition of a richlite fingerboard helps enhance the natural characteristics of the body, adding extra sparkle to the high end and opening up the midrange.

Gibson '57 Classic & Super ’57 Classic Pickups

Loaded with Gibson '57 Classic and Super ’57 Classic humbucking pickups in the bridge and neck position, the 2018 SG Standard produces warm and clear sounds based on the traditional PAF tone. Having become synonymous with the ‘sought-after’ sound of vintage Gibson guitars, the ’57 Classic provides players with a crunchy tone and plenty of gain, while the Super ’57 Classic offers a smooth, responsive tone. Constructed from alnico II magnets, matched coil windings, and featuring two conductor wires, the '57 Classic humbuckers are perfect for delivering a vintage high gain tone with excellent dynamics, brightness, and balanced overtones.

Push/Pull & Dip Switch Functions

Along with its powerful pickups, this High Performance SG also includes a set of DIP switches and push/pull volume controls to deliver an incredible variety of reversible instant wiring options, providing players with a whole new world of tonal versatility. The two volume controls can be used to either split or tap the SG’s humbuckers, depending on the position of the first two DIP switches, expanding its tonal possibilities for a truly versatile performance. The last three DIP switches can be used to activate a high pass filter on either humbucker, as well as engage the Gibson’s transient suppression circuit to reduce signal peaks and deliver an enhance performance.

Aluminium Tune-O-Matic Bridge

The addition of a Tune-O-Matic bridge provides players with stability, reliability, a comfortable playing position, and impressive sustain. Adjusting the string action and intonation is extremely simple with a tune-o-matic bridge, as you simply adjust its height with the mounting rods to alter the action, and screw the bridge saddles in or out to achieve perfect intonation. The separate ''stop bar'' tailpiece is designed to further enhance the connection between the strings and the body, offering greater vibration transfer for an enhanced resonance.

Titanium Zero-Fret Adjustable Nut

The HP-II SG Standard also features Gibson’s innovative zero-fret adjustable nut, featuring a superior design to offer exceptional adjustments to match various playing styles. Its all-titanium construction provides extreme durability, while its retaining screw helps the nut stay in place when you change strings. Like with bridge adjustments, the zero-fret nut allows you to adjust the string height and angle for the optimum feel.
