EQ is normally a tool that is utilised on one sonic plain so you can boost or cut your frequencies to cure your sound of any imperfections gained in the recording process or even during the mix stage when you have two instruments that are fighting for space and breathing room. Well, with Eventide's Structural Split engine you're able to split your audio into both transient and tonal signals meaning you can take the louder more present transients of your mix and EQ them in a completely different way to the overall tonal body of your tracks.
In real terms this means that for example in the case of a drum track, you can boost the power of the kick with the transient control so it really cuts through, but then you can reduce any mud present tonally.
