About Fender Custom Shop
The Fender Custom Shop represents the pinnacle of guitar craftsmanship. Founded in 1987 to revive the magic of Fender's early designs, the Custom Shop began with two legendary builders aiming to create dream guitars for musicians. Today, it stands as a beacon for bespoke instruments, producing vintage recreations, one-offs, and highly sought-after models like the Custom Shop '51 Nocaster Heavy Relic.
Custom Shop guitars are divided into two categories: Team Built and Masterbuilt. Team Built guitars are crafted more efficiently, with specialists working on separate aspects of each guitar. Masterbuilt guitars push quality boundaries, made by some of the industry’s finest luthiers. Each Masterbuilt instrument is unique – unless it’s an artist replica, in which case, it’s nearly indistinguishable from the original!
Regardless of team, each Custom Shop instrument is crafted using the same presses, moulds, tools, and techniques that were around in the original Fullerton factory back in the '50s, lending a degree of vintage authenticity that's hard to find anywhere else.
