Processing external samples can be an absolute nightmare! Not only do you have to contend with beats. There may be additional sounds such as harmonies layered in. Adjusting the pitch and timing of it can have a profound impact on the signal quality, by the time it fits your track who's to say it'll sound great?
ReCycle does things different. Instead of adjusting the sample, it slices the part into small segments so that each gets its own layer. This means when you affect the tempo of the loop, the change between the slices is stretched rather than the slices themselves. Thanks to this, the sonic quality of your signal will remain firmly intact!
The second you import a sample into ReCycle, the software will assess and analyse the file, splitting it into its core rhythmic components. If you're not tech savvy don't worry, this is a fully automated process but you'll still have complete control over what can be moved, auditioned and deleted via the on-screen tools and controls. From here you'll be able to set and manipulate the ADSR of silces as well as affect tempo and pitch in isolation.
Should you desire, you can even import REX files as audio via loading the directly onto Audio Tracks in Reason’s sequencer. You'll find that when you load up a REX file it automatically compensates to match the tempo of your project. REX files are supported by all major music software titles.
