Gypsy Bubinga Tonewoods
The Gypsy Bubinga is crafted from spruce for the top-wood, a mahogany neck and body, mounted with a rosewood fingerboard. Mahogany is used a lot in the acoustic world because it is relatively economical, durable, attractive, easy to work with, and resonant. It contains distinct character of a soft warmth, but is well balanced with a bite of its own. The Luna Bubinga projects a well-rounded, brilliant sound, that gives Luna guitars the distinct character a guitarist craves.
The Auditorium Shape
The Gypsy Bubinga's grand auditorium size with a cutaway delivers a well-balanced sound. The shape is perfect for those who like to write, record, or perform, as it is good quality, an all-rounder of an instrument, and very comfy to sit with for long periods of time. The auditorium size allows players to get bigger sound projection, extra bass, and mid range tones that smaller bodied guitars just can't deliver. If you're looking for a guitar that is a bit bigger than a tenor size, with standard fret scale, and a bit more in the bass section, then the Luna Gypsy Bubinga is perfect for you.
The mahogany neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard, which delivers a warm, bright, and sparkly tone that really shines through when using finger picking techniques. The neck is specially designed by Luna to provide a comfortable playing experience, this ensures that challenging notes and chords are within easy reach. The reason why many guitar necks are made from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to picking, strumming, and various finger techniques with equal ease. The Gypsy Bubinga has a natural gloss finish, and exclusive moon phase fingerboard markers, providing stunning aesthetics.
The Luna Look
A beautifully designed, well-crafted instrument originally created to captivate and engage women's minds and spirits along with their talent. Being a very nature themed instrument, the bubinga graphic design projects the look of all things wood and tree like, this makes the Gypsy Bubinga stand out from the crowd. The neck has Luna's exclusive moon phase fingerboard markers, inlaid in mother-of-pearl, that run the length of the rosewood fingerboard. The headstock is even pleasing to the eye, using Luna's signature crescent moon logo, inlaid in mother of pearl. The Gypsy Bubinga has a curved headstock cut, and edgy black finish that really brings out Luna's creativity and obsession for alternative styles.
Yvonne Villiers is an accomplished stained-glass artist who envisioned Luna guitars. Her inspiration for a line of guitars designed to maximise playing comfort came from her mother, Hilda Villiers, a bassist for over 40 years.
Whilst watching her mum on stage, Yvonne couldn't help but notice the massive struggle her mum had whilst playing. With her mum being so petite and using such a heavy instrument, she used to complain of how hard it was to be a woman and try to play these big bass guitars. Yvonne then questioned if there were others like her mum that struggled with the same problems and pains. She came up with the idea of a woman specific guitar, uniquely tailored to fit their bodies, their hands, and their musical styles.
Yvonne moved on to create Luna guitars, a line of guitars made for female musicians of all ages and crafted with luminous visual beauty to engage women's minds and spirits along with their talent. Yvonne already had brilliant artistic skills and use of colour, she then applied the same techniques as she did with her award winning stained glass work to her new line of guitars. She is known for using rich colours that shimmer and shine with every movement providing an eye-catching design along with the great musical tones Luna guitars deliver.
Yvonne's design expertise has led so many men to respond to Luna's well-crafted, spirit-engaging instruments that the company now creates guitars for both female and male musicians of all ages. The name 'Luna' comes from Yvonne's beautifully unique opinion of the world, she explains how the moon has a cool, yet guiding light, and that she envisioned Luna embodying the same healing and enchanting essence as the moon has.
