Classic Style & Modern Playability
The original Hagstrom Impala guitars of 1963-1967 were hailed for their quirky design and futuristic tonal opportunities, gaining mass popularity with the garage rock and psychedelic rock genres that were emerging into mainstream cultures at the time. The modern reissue has had an update in its tone knobs’ functions, providing a more effective and consistent production of specific sound combinations. The vintage tremar tremolo, whilst appearing the same aesthetically, has undergone an update in its performance to deliver an even glide of vibrato. The Impala has undergone the adequate updates, whilst still offering the 60s flare of the original, to suit modern players and still do what it was designed for: moving music forward.
Stable Resinator Wood Fingerboard
The mahogany neck is coupled with a fingerboard crafted from Hagstrom’s ingenious resinator wood, creating a strong and stable playing performance. The resinator wood is a synthetic version of ebony, made from a mahogany/composite material to provide the same feel and tone as ebony. The design also provides a more dense and stable construction than other woods, eliminating dead spots which may appear on conventional wood fingerboard. The combination of the mahogany and resonator tonewoods add a luscious overtone and harmonics to improve the level of detail each note has.
Powerful Pickups for Incredible Versatility
The Impala guitar is equipped with a set of Hagstrom’s Retro-S pickups, designed to recreate the essence of the 60s sound while providing plenty of sonic possibilities for the modern player. Offering a bright, clear tone with plenty of output for rock and metal, the Retro-S pickups feature a special R/C tone circuit for the ultimate tone shaping capabilities. Along with the pickup on/off switches, the guitar features tone switches for each pickup along with a mute and bass cut. Although the mute switch doesn’t completely silence the guitar, it does offer a dark, muddy, muffled sound perfect for accompanying jazz rhythm chords.
