Epiphone's Ltd. Ed. Les Paul Standard Plustop PRO offers the legendary Les Paul guitar a fresh start, featuring an array of appointments to make this model a powerful guitar in its own right. Designed with a mahogany body and neck, the Epiphone produces sweet tones with plenty of warmth, while the rosewood fingerboard creates sparkling highs, and thick, cream lows. A set of Epiphone's ProBucker pickups, based on Gibson's vintage humbuckers, offer vintage style sounds with plenty of power to cut though the mix. The pickups are designed with split coils with push pull functions on the volume controls, allowing the guitar to switch from humbucking tones to single coil sounds. An AAA flamed maple top and bourbon finish give the Les Paul a visually stunning and unique look, making it the perfect guitar for players wanting an excellent balance between style and sound.

ProBucker 2 and 3 Pickups

Based on iconic Gibson vintage humbuckers, the Les Paul incorporates two powerful ProBucker pickups, with a Probucker 3 in the bridge and ProBucker 2 in the neck. Designed to match the rich and dynamic tone of vintage humbuckers, the ProBucker pickups are constructed from unevenly wound coils with Alnico II magnets and Vacuum Wax potted to eliminate microphonics. The ProBucker-2 pickup provides solid rhythm tones, while the ProBucker-3 pickup is slightly overwound to add a little extra bite when playing lead.

Push/Pull Coil Split Set-Up

Incorporating a push/pull coil split on the volume controls, the Les Paul Standard offers the ability to switch the ProBucker pickups from humbucking tones to single coil sounds with a simple flick of a switch. Perfect for guitarists who require an array of tones, the unique wiring allows seamless switching between single coil and humbucking modes.

The LockTone Tune-O-Matic

The Epiphone Les Paul incorporates an innovative locking tune-o-matic bridge and tail piece system, eliminating the lack of stability when the strings are removed, which causes the bridge/tailpiece to fall off and minor unwanted adjustments to the bridge height to be made. The Locktone tune-o-matic bridge and tailpiece is designed to prevent that by using high tension springs fitted into the attachments, allowing the bridge to clip and lock into place without the use of tools, increasing the guitar's sustain for powerful tones.

The Les Paul Design

Epiphone's history with legendary guitarist and innovator Les Paul dates back to the early 1940s when Les, working nights at the Epiphone factory on 14th Street in New York City, created one of the first solid body electric guitars, better known as "The Log." Over the next 15 years, Les continued to develop his dream guitar that would "sustain for days" and in the late 50s, the historic Gibson and Epiphone factory in Kalamazoo, Michigan produced the "sunburst" Les Paul Standard and its new pickup, the "PAF" humbucker.
