Get to grips with the internal workings of a synthesizer with this build-it-yourself analog synth kit designed for both beginners and seasoned synthesis enthusiasts. The synthesizer is quick and easy to assemble and is highly accessible, for any skillset. Once built, the MAVIS presents you with a powerful yet compact semi-modular analog synthesizer with a built-in keyboard and a 24-point patch bay.
Play and control your sounds using the expressive keyboard controller which allows you to create rich tones and complex sounds. Using the KB scale knob, you can dial in new pitch relationships allowing you to explore unchartered musical intervals, allowing you to create something truly unique. At the heart of the MAVIS synthesizer is a voltage controllable oscillator with PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) as well as waveform mixing and mod source mixing. The wide range of mixing capabilities allows for rich harmonic content and motion.
It wouldn’t be Moog if they didn’t include their iconic ladder filter. MAVIS is equipped with a -24dB low-pass ladder filter – the secret behind many distinct bassline and lead sounds. The ladder filter allows you to shape and sculpt your sound and translate your ideas into sound. MAVIS also features a variable shape LFO and four-stage envelope generators which can be operated via the onboard crossfaders to blend between signals for complex modulation options.
A first for Moog; the MAVIS features an analog wavefolding circuit that combines the best of both worlds – allowing you to tap into additive and subtractive synthesis for a broader tonal palette. These two schools of synthesis allow you to create powerful and unique tones via the wide range of controls on offer. The large utility section includes everything from attenuators and offsets to mults and even a versatile DC-coupled mixer so you can blend and mix between various waveforms.
Get creative with your live performances using the patchable S+H (Sample and Hold) circuit. Using the S+H circuit you can generate random CV patterns which can be patched to modulate various parameters. You can even leave it up to chance and let MAVIS create its own random sequences. Paired with the powerful analog sound engine, this versatile circuit allows you to create rhythmic melodies and much more.
Get creative with your sound design and modulation using the versatile 24-point patch bay. Use the various inputs and outputs to patch into external synths, modules and other gear. It is optimised to be used with other voltage-controlled devices (such as other Moog semi-modular instruments). A wide variety of control voltage routing allows for complex modulation options and a varied tonal palette. Requiring zero soldering; the MAVIS can be set up and ready to use within an afternoon with clearly annotated instructions that are easy to follow. Once constructed, the MAVIS comes complete with a fitted protective cover to keep the synthesizer protected whilst on the move or in storage.
Any electrical items in your order may have been designed to work with a 240V circuit, using a United Kingdom G type plug connection or a 220V circuit, using an EU plug connection. An adapter or transformer may be required for these items to work properly and safely in your country. Some items work with a range of voltages, or have a switchable voltage control built in.
