Sterling Richardson, Kokiri Forest Overview
The Sterling Richardson in Kokiri Forest is a modern artist model built to meet the demands of Jason Richardson’s precise, high-performance playing style. Based on a refined double-cutaway design, it features a lightweight alder body topped with a striking poplar burl veneer that gives the guitar its distinctive visual character. A custom-contoured lower horn improves access to the upper register, making complex passages across all 24 frets feel natural and unrestricted.
A roasted maple neck and rosewood fingerboard provide a fast, stable playing surface designed for accuracy and control. High-output Sterling by Music Man-designed humbuckers deliver articulate response and strong attack, while the modern tremolo system supports expressive vibrato and controlled pitch movement. Push-push boost and coil-split controls expand the guitar’s tonal range, allowing quick shifts between tight, aggressive sounds and clearer, more dynamic textures without interrupting your flow.

Full Description
View Full DescriptionCustom artist-designed body shape
This Richardson model is shaped specifically to support advanced, technical playing styles. A custom-contoured lower horn allows completely unhindered access to all 24 frets, making wide stretches, fast position shifts, and upper-register lines feel natural rather than forced. The lightweight alder body keeps the guitar comfortable during long practice sessions and extended sets, while the refined double-cutaway design balances well whether seated or standing. Built to Jason Richardson’s exact requirements, it's designed for precision and control at speed, helping demanding techniques translate cleanly.
High-output artist humbuckers
A pair of Sterling by Music Man-designed Jason Richardson humbuckers deliver the clarity and output needed for modern high-performance playing. These pickups produce a tight, controlled low end, focused mids, and clear highs that keep fast runs, extended chords, and aggressive rhythm parts well defined under gain. They respond accurately to picking dynamics, preserving articulation even in dense mixes. Whether you’re playing intricate lead passages or fast, aggressive rhythm parts with plenty of palm muting, the pickups maintain separation and punch across a wide range of amp and pedal setups.
Expanded control options
The electronics layout offers powerful tonal flexibility without overcomplicating the controls. A push-push volume boost delivers up to 12dB of additional output, making it easy to lift solos or add impact to heavier sections instantly. A push-push coil-split on the tone control opens up brighter, more transparent sounds, extending the guitar’s range beyond traditional humbucker voices. These features allow rapid shifts between aggressive, high-output tones and cleaner, more dynamic textures, all without slowing you down or relying on external switching.
Built for speed and stability
A roasted maple neck provides a fast, stable feel designed for precision playing and consistent performance. The 16-inch fingerboard radius and jumbo frets support low action, wide bends, and accurate intonation across the full range of the neck. Locking tuners improve tuning stability and speed up string changes, while the modern tremolo offers expressive pitch control with reliable return to pitch. Together, these features create a dependable platform for guitarists that value precision.
