Epiphone Prophecy SG, Obsidian Storm Satin Overview
The Epiphone Prophecy SG is a modern guitar designed for players who demand speed, precision, and versatile tones. Its SG Modern design combines classic styling with contemporary features, including a 25.5-inch scale length for improved string tension and clarity when exploring lower tunings. Custom-voiced Fishman Fluence pickups provide three voices, covering powerful modern active humbucker sounds, vintage-inspired warmth, and clear single-coil-style articulation. This range makes the guitar equally suited to aggressive riffs, expressive leads, and cleaner styles.
A thermally aged, one-piece maple neck features a fast HyperGlide profile and graphite reinforcement rods for added stability. The bound ebony fretboard combines a 10–14-inch compound radius with 24 stainless steel frets, providing a smooth, durable surface for demanding techniques. Locking Grover Rotomatic tuners, a Graph Tech nut, and LockTone Modern bridge contribute to reliable tuning and consistent performance. A string-through-body tailpiece helps balance tension and enhance sustain, while the included Protector Ultralite case provides convenient protection.

View Full DescriptionThree versatile Fishman Fluence pickup voices
Explore an extensive range of sounds with custom-voiced Fishman Fluence pickups developed specifically for the Prophecy series. Three selectable voices offer everything from powerful modern active humbucker tones to classic Patent Applied For-inspired warmth, as well as clear single-coil-style articulation. Push/pull master volume and tone controls provide intuitive access to these contrasting sounds, making it easy to adapt your guitar to different musical styles. Whether you're playing aggressive high-gain riffs, expressive lead passages, or cleaner arrangements, the Fluence electronics deliver impressive clarity, focused mids, and controlled low frequencies.
Fast HyperGlide neck and precision fretboard
Enjoy smooth, accurate playing with a thermally aged, one-piece maple neck featuring Epiphone's streamlined HyperGlide profile. Graphite reinforcement rods provide additional strength and long-term stability, while the satin finish supports comfortable movement along the neck. The bound ebony fretboard features a 10–14-inch compound radius, combining comfortable chord playing with a flatter upper register for technical lead work. Twenty-four stainless steel frets offer a durable, precise playing surface, making the Prophecy SG particularly well suited to players who prioritise speed, accuracy, and fluid performance.
Extended scale and dependable hardware
Take advantage of enhanced string tension and note definition with the Prophecy SG's 25.5-inch scale length. This configuration is particularly useful for lower tunings, helping maintain a tight, articulate response during demanding rhythm and lead playing. Locking Grover Rotomatic tuners and a Graph Tech nut contribute to dependable tuning stability, while the LockTone Modern bridge provides a solid foundation for consistent performance. The string-through-body tailpiece, inspired by the Frequensator design, helps balance string tension while promoting sustain, clear low notes, vibrant highs, and smooth bending.
Modern SG design with premium appointments
Combining the unmistakable SG silhouette with contemporary performance features, the Prophecy SG delivers a distinctive take on Epiphone's classic design. Its SG Modern body provides a familiar playing experience, while carefully selected materials and construction details support clarity and responsiveness. Black mother-of-pearl block inlays complement the bound ebony fretboard, and the multi-ply-bound headstock features an Epiphone logo and Custom split diamond inlay. Premium hardware completes the modern aesthetic, while the included Protector Ultralite case offers dependable protection for transportation, storage, and regular use.
