Epiphone Information

Epiphone was founded in 1873, in Turkey by Anastasios Stathopoulos a Greek who made fiddles and lutes.

Moving to America in 1903 the company started manufacturing Mandolins and Banjos. It wasn’t until 1928 til Epiphone started manufacturing guitars. In 1957 Gibson decided to buy Epiphone who at the time were their main rival in the archtop market but had suffered considerably after World War II.

After the Gibson take over Epiphone introduced the Casino, arguably its most iconic guitar. Based on the design of the Gibson ES-330 hollow body guitar, the Casino had a distinctive thick and very heavy sound. Epiphones Casino became famous when Paul McCartney used one, soon John Lennon and George Harrison would follow suit, all acquiring Casino guitars.

Epiphone to this day are still used by guitarists spanning all genre's of music.
