Warm, punchy tones from North American maple

Built around DW's patented HVX shell technology, the Performance Series delivers the warmth and punch associated with North American Hard Rock Maple. The carefully arranged maple plies produce a strong fundamental tone with plenty of low-end presence, giving your grooves a solid foundation while keeping your toms full and responsive.

The rack toms, floor tom, and bass drum feature eight-ply shells with 45- and 60-degree back-cut bearing edges. These help shape the drums' response, providing a focused sound with natural resonance. Whether you're playing tight, controlled rhythms or letting your toms ring out, the maple construction gives you plenty of tonal character to work with.

Five matching shells for a complete drum setup

With five matching drums included, this shell pack gives you a versatile configuration for rehearsals, recording, and live performances. The 8" x 10" and 9" x 12" rack toms offer contrasting pitches for expressive fills, while the 14" x 16" floor tom provides a deeper voice. An 18" x 22" bass drum rounds out the setup with a warm, punchy low end.

You'll also receive a matching 6.5" x 14" snare drum — an addition to the standard four-piece shell configuration. Its ten-ply maple shell, 45-degree back-cut bearing edge, and precision hand-cut snare beds provide a responsive playing surface, completing the kit with a consistent maple sound across all five drums.

Fine-tune your sound with professional hardware

DW's Performance Series hardware is designed to help you get the most out of each shell. Suspension Tom Mounts (STM) reduce interference with the toms' natural vibration, allowing them to sustain more freely. This helps your fills sound full and resonant, particularly when playing across multiple toms.

True-Pitch tension rods offer precise tuning adjustments, making it easier to dial in your preferred pitch and response. Graduated triple-flange counter hoops and quarter-sized turret lugs complete the hardware setup, while the bass drum features matching maple hoops and low-mass claw hooks. Remo drumheads are also included, giving you the essential components needed to start tuning your new shells.

Stand out with a limited Black Oyster Glass finish

The Black Oyster Glass FinishPly covering gives this Performance Series kit a distinctive appearance, combining swirling black patterns with contrasting lighter details. The finish extends across all five drums, including the matching snare, creating a coordinated look that stands out on stage and in the studio.

But there's more to this edition than its appearance. Manufactured in the USA and limited to just 125 sets worldwide, it offers a less common take on DW's established Performance Series design. You still get the familiar HVX maple shells, precision tuning hardware, and sustain-enhancing mounts, all finished in a design produced for this limited run.
