Warm maple tones with plenty of punch

At the heart of the Performance Series is DW's patented HVX shell construction, which uses 100 percent North American Hard Rock Maple to deliver a warm, punchy sound with strong low-end fundamentals. The toms and bass drum feature eight-ply maple shells, giving you a focused tonal foundation with plenty of body. DW also uses specially shaped bearing edges, combining 45-degree and 60-degree back-cut profiles to influence how the drumheads interact with the shells. The result is a kit designed around the natural warmth and punch of maple, giving you a responsive sound to work with when playing live or recording.

Let your toms resonate naturally

DW's Suspension Tom Mounts (STM) are designed to help your toms sustain more freely, allowing their natural resonance to come through as you play. This is particularly useful when you want notes to ring out without the mounting hardware unnecessarily restricting shell vibration. The kit also features graduated triple-flange counter hoops, providing a practical balance between head control and resonance. On the bass drum, matching maple hoops and low-mass claw hooks complement the shell construction. Together, these features help you get the most from the maple shells, whether you're playing open, ringing tom patterns or punchy, controlled grooves.

Fine-tune your sound with greater precision

Getting your drums tuned just how you like them makes a real difference, especially when you're moving between rehearsals, gigs, and recording sessions. That's where DW's True-Pitch tension rods come in. Designed to provide more precise tuning adjustments, they give you greater control when dialling in the pitch of each drum. Combined with the supplied Remo drumheads, they provide a practical starting point for shaping your sound. You'll also find DW's quarter-sized turret lugs throughout the kit, alongside the carefully designed bearing edges. These details give you the tools to explore different tunings while making adjustments to suit your playing style.

A limited finish with a versatile four-piece configuration

With only 125 sets available worldwide, this limited-edition Performance Series kit brings a distinctive Black Oyster Glass finish to DW's American-made maple shells. The four-piece F.A.S.T. configuration includes an 10 x 8-inch rack tom, a 12 x 9-inch rack tom, a 16 x 14-inch floor tom, and an 22 x 18-inch bass drum. This gives you two mounted toms for higher-pitched patterns, a deeper floor tom, and a full-sized bass drum for low-end impact. The matching maple bass drum hoops complete the look, while the Black Oyster finish provides a consistent appearance across the shells.
