Key Features
The Yamaha YAS82ZA Custom Professional Z Alto Saxophone is designed for advanced saxophonists who need responsive performance, expressive tone, and refined playability. Its amber lacquer finish pairs a vintage-inspired appearance with Yamaha's proven Custom Z design, while a protective topcoat helps preserve its shine. The V1 neck delivers a free-blowing feel with excellent flexibility, and the handcrafted one-piece bell improves resonance while smoothing intonation in the middle and lower registers.
Built with professional performance in mind, the YAS82ZA features metal resonators for a wider dynamic range and clearer note definition, plus a nickel silver neck receiver for focused tone and quick response. Thoughtful details, including the adjustable teardrop Front F key, mother of pearl key buttons, and smooth ball joint octave mechanism, make fast passages feel comfortable and controlled. It also includes a 4CM mouthpiece, ligature, AV1 neck, and a lightweight ASC-820 case for transport.

The amber lacquer finish gives the YAS82ZA a distinctive vintage-inspired appearance without changing the professional features that define the Custom Z range. After lacquering, each instrument is hand engraved to create greater contrast against the brass, highlighting the detailed anemone design. A specialised topcoat helps maintain the finish over time, giving you an instrument that continues to look its best through regular rehearsals, performances, and practice.
The included V1 neck uses a wide bore taper to create a free-blowing feel with excellent flexibility, helping you shape your sound with confidence. A rigid nickel silver neck receiver contributes to focused tone and responsive playing, while compatibility with other Yamaha Custom Z and Custom EX necks offers room to tailor your setup. The lightweight body design also reduces blowing resistance, making longer performances feel more comfortable.
A handcrafted one-piece bell strengthens the connection between the body and bell, increasing resonance while improving intonation through the middle and lower registers. Metal resonator pads provide clear note definition and a broader dynamic range, while two-point bell contact supports strong projection. Integrated key posts add measured resistance, helping the instrument respond naturally as you play.
The YAS82ZA includes several refinements that support smooth, confident technique. The ball joint octave key promotes quicker, more fluid action, while the adjustable teardrop Front F key can be tailored to your preferred playing position. Mother of pearl key buttons provide a comfortable, secure touch, and the redesigned low B-C# mechanism improves consistency for cleaner low-register response — especially during demanding passages. It also arrives with a lightweight ASC-820 case, AV1 neck, 4CM mouthpiece, and ligature, so you're ready to play straight away.
