Starting the clarinet can be more comfortable when the instrument fits your hands. The Clarineo is smaller and lighter than a standard Bb clarinet, weighing just 0.26 kg and measuring 58.7 cm long. Its smaller tone holes and shorter finger stretches make notes easier to reach, particularly for younger players aged seven and upwards. Less weight can also help reduce fatigue during lessons and practice. And when you're ready to progress, the familiar fingering system makes moving to a standard Bb clarinet more straightforward.
Regular cleaning is simple thanks to the Clarineo's waterproof plastic and silicone construction. For everyday sanitising, you can apply a suitable woodwind disinfectant, leave it for at least 20 seconds, then wipe the instrument with a dry cloth. When it needs a deeper clean, simply bathe it in warm, soapy water and leave it to dry on a towel. This helps remove built-up dirt and unwanted bacteria without dismantling the instrument or buying specialist cleaning equipment; particularly useful for busy classrooms and regular home practice.
The durable plastic and silicone construction also helps the Clarineo handle the demands of regular lessons and practice. Its silicone bell provides additional durability, while self-levelling silicone pads provide improved reliability and even seating. Silicone keycaps also give your fingers extra comfort and grip as you play. There's a fully adjustable thumb rest too, letting you find a comfortable position for your hands. Maintenance remains straightforward, with spare parts available and simple fitting and repair instructions helping you keep the instrument ready for its next lesson.
Tuned to C, the Clarineo can play alongside other C instruments, including others across the Nuvo range. This makes it well suited to classroom groups and small ensembles, with compatible learning and ensemble material available through Windstars. Its 3.5-octave range gives beginners plenty to explore as their playing develops. The redesigned compact case uses two press studs and hook-and-loop fastening to keep the instrument secure while allowing quick access. Accessories include reeds, O-ring grease, a cleaning swab, and a fingering chart, giving beginners the essentials for playing and looking after their instrument.
