The Il Cannone violin model originated from an unlikely source. The Italian violinist Paganini lost his instrument to gambling, and was given a seemingly substandard model by luthier Giuseppe Antonio Guarneri. Paganini loved the instrument so much that he used for the rest of his life, keeping it in perfect condition. The violin later became widely recognised for its exceptional playability and comfortable feel. The loud projection and open resonance makes it ideal for soloist players, whilst its ability to play fast also assists with scaling the higher frets.
This violin is modelled after the famous ‘Il Cannone,’ the powerful and resonant instrument played by Niccolò Paganini. This faithful modern interpretation delivers a similar bold, projecting tone while maintaining the elegance and playability professional musicians require.
The body features a two-piece back crafted from finely figured maple, paired with matching ribs and a scroll for a cohesive and visually stunning design. The spruce top enhances the violin’s responsiveness, ensuring a dynamic range of tonal expression suitable for both solo and ensemble performances.
The hand-applied oil varnish gives the instrument an antique appearance, enhancing its character while preserving the wood’s natural resonance. Rosewood pegs and a matching tailpiece offer both durability and a traditional aesthetic, with the option of a Paris eye detail for added refinement.
This full-size violin (4/4) is built for advanced players who demand precision and reliability. The fitted maple bridge ensures optimal string response, while the ebony fingerboard supports fast, smooth playing. Each instrument comes with a certificate of origin, verifying its quality and craftsmanship.
