Find your sound from the first note
When you're learning the cornet, having an instrument that responds comfortably makes all the difference. The CR651 is designed to help you build a consistent sound without having to work against unnecessary blowing resistance. Its rose brass leadpipe brings warmth to your tone, while the yellow brass bell helps keep each note focused and clear. Together, they give you a rich, resonant sound that's well suited to developing your breath control and embouchure. Whether you're working on your first few notes or starting to tackle longer pieces, the CR651 lets you concentrate on your playing and gradually build confidence in your sound.
Get comfortable with every new note
Learning new fingerings takes time, but your instrument shouldn't make things harder. The CR651's stainless steel valves offer smooth, responsive movement, helping you build coordination as you work through scales, exercises, and new pieces. As your playing develops, this consistent action makes it easier to move between notes and practise more demanding passages. Bach have also considered the practical side of owning your first cornet. The nickel silver mouthpiece receiver helps prevent the mouthpiece from getting stuck, reducing the risk of unnecessary maintenance. Two waterkeys make clearing moisture straightforward, too, so looking after your instrument becomes part of a simple practice routine.
Stay in tune with the musicians around you
One of the trickier parts of learning a brass instrument is getting your tuning right, particularly when you start playing with other musicians. The CR651 helps you develop this skill with triggers on its first and third valve slides. These let you make small adjustments to the length of the tubing as you play, correcting notes that might otherwise sound slightly out of tune. It's especially useful when you're getting used to playing in a brass band or ensemble, where listening and blending with other instruments is important. With a little practice, you'll learn when to use the triggers and how they can help you play more accurately.
Over a century of brass instrument expertise
Bach's history began with Austrian musician and engineer Vincent Bach, whose experience as a professional brass player inspired him to develop his own equipment. In 1918, he started making mouthpieces in a small New York workshop, using his understanding of acoustics and performance to refine their designs. By 1924, he had turned his attention to developing trumpets and cornets, with the first Bach trumpets reaching musicians in 1925. His combination of engineering knowledge and first-hand playing experience helped establish the company's approach to instrument making. Today, Bach continues to draw on that heritage, with designs shaped by the needs of brass players at different stages of their musical journey.
