The main function of Graindad, the grain engine analyzes incoming audio using advanced multi-band transient detection and then splits your audio into 64 grains. Here, you can organise and define your grains to virtually patch them into the different functions of the plug-in. Packed with 12 processing parameters, patching the grains of your audio, you can achieve a wide range of different effects from looping, stuttering, time-stretching, pitch-shifting, reversing and harmonizing. The core of the plug-in, the grain engine enables you to determine the incoming source for the effects, from syncing to MIDI signals or the host clock in your project, Graindad can do it all.
Powered by a twin modulation engine architecture, Graindad presents a classic modulation system using all 12 main controls in independent blocks. These controls include everything from the 16-step trigger sequencer, LFOs, envelopes and much more. Each block includes a wide range of parameters to fine-tune your modulation to your track or performance.
Each modulation source within the modulation engine can be randomized, with nearly every parameter able to be randomized. Taking an already experimental and unique plug-in to new heights, the randomization functionality can even be triggered by certain aspects of your audio such as the transient markers along with the ability to randomize the intensity of each modulator. An extremely powerful tool, combining the randomization with the modulation engine ensures that your sound will forever be evolving, moving and changing depending on the incoming audio signal. Perfect for experimental sound design, the Graindad is capable of creating brand-new textures and interactions between modulation sources every single time you play through it.
A playful and innovative new way to modulate the grains of your signal, The Harvester lets you manipulate all 12 modulation sources simultaneously. Using The Harvester, you can create links between each of the 12 main controls, defining the depth and movement between each parameter. Additionally, the interactions between each parameter can be recorded as automation and randomized for an additional layer of motion. An endless source of sonic inspiration, the Harvester can be blended with the modulation engine using the Modmix control for unique crossfading capabilities.
Whether it's classic effects like filters, reverbs and delays, the effects section of Graindad features a variety of sounds to add the final touches to your sound or to take them into completely new territories. In addition to the classic array of time-based effects, there are also four filter types including low-pass, band-pass, high-pass and band-reject as well as a unique peak EQ.
