Key Features
The Strymon Cloudburst is an expansive and lush reverb plugin, designed to offer the same analog-quality tones as the hardware pedal in plugin format. Strymon Cloudburst is built for musicians, producers and sound designers who want instant access to lush textures and evolving atmospheres. Its standout Ensemble engine analyses your input in real time and generates layered harmonic content, turning simple sounds into immersive, string-like reverbs. Perfect for vocals, acoustic instruments or synths, it opens up a huge new palette of sound without needing external processing or layering.
Cloudburst also includes versatile tools for creative sound shaping. The Hold button enables both Infinite and Freeze functions making it ideal for ambient pads and textural beds, while the Mod control lets you adjust the reverb’s movement from subtle shimmer to sci-fi pitch shifts. The Decay control scales the whole space, making it easy to go from tight rooms to endless, dreamlike trails. Whether you're sculpting ambient tracks or adding detail to acoustic recordings, Cloudburst makes advanced reverb design simple and musical.

At the heart of Cloudburst is its Ensemble engine, which creates a string-like harmonic layer in real time. It works by analysing 48 frequency bands from your input and generating upper harmonics that match those bands. This produces a rich, musical effect that feels like a soft string section supporting your sound. Whether you use it to subtly enhance acoustic tones or push it to full ambient textures, Ensemble delivers a completely new way of experiencing reverb that’s ideal for creative production and sound design.
Cloudburst includes a Hold button that turns any sound into an evolving ambient pad. Switch between Infinite and Freeze modes for different types of sustain. Infinite mode layers each new note into the ongoing reverb, building an ever-evolving pad. Freeze holds one moment in time, allowing you to play clean notes over the top without affecting the sustained layer. These functions are perfect for live looping, cinematic sound design, or adding movement behind a static mix.
The Mod control adds depth and movement by modulating the delay lines inside the reverb. Below 12 o’clock, it adjusts modulation depth; above 12 o’clock, it increases modulation speed. This allows everything from subtle spatial widening to bold, pitch-shifting effects that can feel otherworldly. When used in combination with the Ensemble engine, it creates deeply textured, moving reverbs that can transform simple source material into complex soundscapes.
With just one Decay knob, Cloudburst adjusts multiple internal parameters to shape the reverb space. The result is a highly musical response that lets you move from short, natural room sounds to massive, immersive tails with a single turn. The control is finely tuned so even small adjustments change the reverb’s feel and tone, giving you intuitive access to a wide range of sonic environments without needing to tweak multiple settings.
