Hear every detail clearly
The SM-5 uses a 3-way coincident design to create a true acoustic point source. By aligning the midrange and tweeter physically and acoustically, it produces a consistent sound field with minimal phase issues.
You will notice improved stereo imaging, where instruments and effects sit exactly where you expect them in the mix. This level of accuracy helps when making precise adjustments to panning, EQ, and depth. It also reduces off-axis inconsistencies, so the sound remains balanced even if you move around your listening position.
Low distortion across the full range
Each driver in the SM-5 is engineered to keep distortion low while maintaining strong output. The woofer includes features that stabilise magnetic behaviour, helping to reduce unwanted artefacts in the low end. This results in tighter bass that stays controlled even at higher levels.
The midrange driver is carefully limited in movement, preventing intermodulation issues that can affect clarity. At the top end, the metal dome tweeter is shaped to reduce harsh resonances, giving you a smoother high-frequency response that remains easy to work with over long sessions.
Shape your sound to your room
The onboard DSP gives you direct control over how the monitor behaves in your space. Using the rear panel switches, you can quickly adjust boundary settings and fine-tune low and high frequencies. For more detailed control, the Kali Control Panel software allows you to apply up to eight bands of parametric EQ, along with delay and level trims. This helps you correct room issues and achieve a more accurate listening environment. And because all processing runs on the speaker itself, you do not need extra hardware or plug-ins in your signal chain.
Reliable performance for demanding sessions
A built-in Class D amplifier powers the SM-5 with efficiency and consistency, supporting high output levels while keeping distortion under control. The system also includes a protective limiter, helping to prevent damage from unexpected peaks.
With a low-frequency extension down to 39 Hz and a maximum SPL of 117 dB, the monitor handles everything from subtle detail work to louder playback when needed. Mounting options on the cabinet add flexibility to your setup, making it easier to position the speaker correctly for accurate monitoring in any studio environment.
