Key Features
Product Ref: 96762
The system boasts a pair of A-110 Standard VCO’s providing analog oscillation. The A-110 Standard is a powerful module with a sawtooth oscillator at its core. It features a frequency range of 15Hz to 8kHz, equating to roughly eight octaves, with the ability to produce four simultaneous waveforms from triangle and sawtooth, to rectangle and sine waves. The A-110 is equipped with an octave switch and tuning knob to give you excellent manual control over the pitch of your sound, alongside the module's CV inputs.
Dual A-140 ADSR Envelope Generators are also included for shaping your oscillators. The A-140 is a versatile module that can also be used as a modulation device. The A-140 receives voltages through the Gate input and generates a variable voltage, changing in time (an envelope). The module features outputs for both the normal, positive voltage, and for the inverted form as well. These are ideal for voltage-controlled modulation, or for processing the ins and outs of other modules.
Two LFO modules are also included for expansive sound design capabilities. The Doepfer A-145 Low Frequency Oscillator is an LFO module with five available waveform options. You can modulate any number of modules using inverted sawtooth, sine, square wave, and triangle waveforms. The A-145 is also equipped with a three-way switch, enabling you to select between three different frequency ranges.
The A-114 Modulator is comprised of two-channels, providing similar characteristics of a VCA, responding to both positive and negative voltages. It features 6 patch points in total with dual X and Y inputs as well as dual X/Y outputs. It provides exceptional ring modulation, ideal for changing the way your oscillators react for added flexibility.
This high-quality, voltage-controlled low-pass filter features 3 CV patch points as well as a dedicated input and output. The retro-style attenuators allow you to dial in the levels for each of the input as well as the resonance and overall volume level. The module is based on the classic ‘transistor ladder’ design, featuring a cuto-off slop of -24dB/octave, the same as some Moog synths for improved audio performance.
Two varied VCA modules are also included with one running by the linear principles and the other running by exponential standards. The A-130 features the same design as the A-131 with two CV patch points, as well as two audio inputs and a dedicated audio output. The A-131 VCA module provides voltage-controlled amplification. Each module is equipped with two audio inputs, each with its own attenuator, the modules amplify signals by an amount determined by the combination of the gain and the two CV controls.
The pair of mixer modules are ideal for processing and routing different signals to varying modules for quick and easy sound design capabilities. The four-channel mixers come in the form of Linear and Logarithmic designs for optimal flexibility. The mixers are perfect for placing at the end of your audio chain, and can even be used to directly interface with an external device such as an amplifier or mixer.
The A-118 Noise / Random module generates random voltages and noise. With three available signal types, the A-118 can provide you with random voltage, white noise, or coloured noise. The noise signals are generated through the amplification of transistor noise, making them completely analog, and can be used as audio sources, or as control voltages with a sample and hold module.
The A-160 Clock/Trigger Divider is designed to divide clock/gate/trigger signals and to be a source of lower frequencies. The A-160 is perfect for rhythmic uses, with a trigger input that allows click signals from a variety of sources. The A-160's outputs provide you with access to the sub-divided clock signals, from half of the clock frequency all the way down to 1/64. The A-161 Trigger Sequencer is an eight-step clock sequencer, with eight dedicated outputs which are sequentially switched by the clock signals from the A-160. It is ideal for creating complex rhythms and patterns on the fly.
These two effect/utility modules are ideal for changing the characteristics of your analog signals, ideal for a range of applications from simple echos to subtle compression and more. The A-162 features two-channels of identical circuits, designed to generate a trigger signal with a control LED showing the generated signal. The A-170 provides you with two separate slew limiters, with the first channel featuring one joint control, and the second features separate controls for rise and fall times.
As well as the included modules above, the Basic System also boasts a range of other utility and effect modules including: 1 x Audio Divider A-115, 1 x VC Waveform Processor A-116, 1 x XP VCF A-106-6, 1 x Dual S&H A-148, 1 x Dual VC Switch A-150 and 1 x Multiple I A-180. This P6 version of the Basic System is ideal for live performances, housed in a portable carry case that can be easily transported from gig to gig. Additionally, the system comes complete with 30 x patch cables to get you started straight away.
