If you've ever adjusted the EQ on a high-end stereo system, boom box or car stereo, you've used a Baxandall EQ. The BAX EQ is inspired by Peter Baxandall's legendary 1950's design that had the world's most popular EQ curves, known for their sweet-sounding properties. The BAX EQ's unique design carves broad, open curves and gently sloping cuts. At the heart are gently sweeping treble and bass EQ shelves that instantly sweeten up your sound, providing subtle yet powerful control over wide sections of the frequency spectrum. BAX EQ works in different ways that other EQs cannot. Its unique design and smooth curves provide smooth, open treble with powerful, three-dimensional bass.
The broad bandwidth shelving EQ affects several octaves at once, which minimises phase delay and other audible artifacts. Broader curves are softer on the material, whereas steep EQ slopes can usually generate harsh reflections. BAX EQ doesn't colour your sound and keeps the characteristics of the original sound. BAX EQ keeps phase coherence thanks to its high-grade construction that uses only the best components. The low and high frequency filters allow you to clean up any sounds. They feature a 12dB per octave roll off which makes them smooth, accurate and musical sounding without artifacts. On the low-end, you can cut below 12Hz, where sources such as air conditioning units may be taking up your headroom. The high frequency filters ensure that when boosting top end, you'll keep the treble bright and airy without it being harsh or blaring. Rather than adding colour, you'll hear the original colours more beautifully rich, more openly and powerfully no matter how far you push it.
The relays remove the filters entirely from the signal path until desired, allowing for accurate A/B comparisons. Many other EQs leave the filter in the circuit even during bypass, which can potentially add noise, distortion and phase shift. BAX EQ places only the selected frequency, or none into the audio chain to keep your audio pure. Additionally, the BAX EQ features a true-bypass engage switch that is a true-hardwire bypass, meaning it will completely remove the hardware from bypass, allowing for honest A/B comparison. Use the BAX EQ on anything from individual tracks to a whole mix and you'll effortlessly sweeten and deepen any music.
