The iD14 features two analog mic preamps based on the ASP8024-HE studio console. These preamps use a discrete op amp design that keeps noise and distortion low while adding a gentle analog character that suits vocals and detailed acoustic sources. With up to 68 dB of gain available, even low output dynamic and ribbon microphones are well supported. The quiet noise floor helps your sessions stay clean so you spend less time managing unwanted background noise.
True phantom power supplies a full 48 V to each mic input from USB. This gives condenser microphones the voltage they need for consistent performance without requiring an external supply. These design choices make the iD14 a practical option for voiceover, singer songwriter setups and small ensemble recording.
The iD14 uses advanced 32 bit AD/DA converter technology to preserve quality during recording and playback. A 126 dB dynamic range on the digital to analog stage and a 120 dB range on the analog to digital stage give you a clear and spacious sound. This helps when checking levels, editing timing and balancing elements in a mix.
The converters support work up to 24-bit 96 kHz, which fits easily into most project workflows. Small reverb tails and fine harmonic details are easier to identify, supporting more confident mix decisions and faster problem solving. This level of clarity benefits both music production and spoken word projects.
The JFET instrument input on the front panel is designed to mimic the input stage of a valve amplifier. This gives guitar and bass parts a familiar feel and tone when recording directly. It also provides an effective starting point for amp simulation plugins. For larger sessions the ADAT and S/PDIF input allows up to eight additional channels, useful if you want to record drums or move towards full band recording without replacing your interface.
The interface includes a clear control layout with a monitor knob, mute and dim functions and speaker switching. This helps you compare mixes on different speakers and manage levels quickly. The ultra low latency software mixer gives direct monitoring, independent mixes for performers and preset saving, keeping your workflow focused during busy sessions.
USB 3.0 bus power keeps the iD14 ready to use at home or on location with no external power supply needed. Four line outputs support dual monitor setups or send audio to outboard gear. The dual headphone output provides both jack and mini jack connections and can drive headphones up to 600 ohms. This suits detailed editing and mixing on high impedance studio models.
The loopback mixer lets you combine system audio and microphone inputs for streaming, lessons and remote sessions. You can capture game audio, record calls or send blended signals to streaming software with no extra utilities. The iD14 also includes a configurable iD button that can control key monitoring functions or operate talkback using a USB mic or your computer’s built-in mic. A solid metal chassis, hand-milled knobs and a three-year warranty provide long term reliability. The included software bundle with creative tools and Cubase LE means you can begin recording as soon as you open the box.
