Reduce troublesome ground-loop noise
Hum or buzz can become a problem when connected audio equipment creates a ground loop. The HD2 Pro gives you a straightforward way to address it, with a single ground lift switch controlling both balanced XLR outputs. Select GND for standard operation, where pin 1 of each output remains connected to ground. When ground-loop noise occurs, switching to LIFT disconnects pin 1 from ground on both outputs. This gives you quick control over grounding without needing to rearrange your wider audio setup, making the HD2 Pro useful when connecting balanced line-level equipment.
Process two balanced signals at once
Two independent signal paths let you connect a pair of balanced sources through one compact unit. This suits stereo setups as well as systems where two separate balanced line-level signals need routing. The connection diagram on page three of the manual shows a console feeding both HD2 Pro inputs, with its two outputs then connected to a pair of monitor speakers. That makes the unit suited to common monitoring setups where unwanted ground-loop hum or buzz needs addressing across both channels.
Connect with XLR or TRS sources
Each input uses a balanced combo connector, accepting either XLR or 6.35mm TRS connections. That flexibility makes it easier to slot the HD2 Pro into an existing setup without being tied to one connector format. You can connect balanced line-level sources including mixing consoles, audio interfaces, and preamplifiers. Dual balanced XLR outputs then provide straightforward connections to powered speakers, recorders, mixers, audio interfaces, and other professional equipment with balanced XLR inputs, handy when your setup combines several different types of audio hardware.
Maintain full-range signal handling
The HD2 Pro is specified with a frequency response spanning 20Hz to 20kHz, covering the audible frequency range while you address ground-loop noise. Distortion is rated at no more than 0.005 percent at 1kHz, while the specified crosstalk figure is at least -97dB. Its output impedance is 8.7kohm. Together, these specifications give you clear technical information for assessing how the unit will fit into your signal chain, whether you're connecting a mixing console to powered monitors or incorporating it between other compatible balanced line-level devices.
