Create harmonically rich resonant textures
At the heart of the Razornator are five delay-based resonators tuned chromatically for musical results. Unlike traditional effects that focus primarily on ambience or modulation, these resonators generate pitched harmonic content that can be arranged in interval relationships similar to chords. This allows you to transform drums, vocals, synths, guitars and other audio sources into more harmonically complex sounds.
The resonators can emulate the behaviour of resonant objects and spaces, creating anything from subtle reinforcement to dense layers of ringing overtones. Because each resonator has dedicated pitch control, you can build custom harmonic structures that complement the material passing through the unit.
Shape every stage of the signal path
The Razornator combines several processing stages to give you detailed control over the final sound. An adjustable gain stage can boost incoming signals by up to 24dB, adding drive before the signal reaches the resonator section. A resonant low-pass filter lets you focus the frequencies feeding the resonators, helping you control how the effect responds.
After resonation, compression manages levels before the processed signal is blended with the original source and passed through a damping EQ stage. Dedicated controls for resonance, cutoff, decay, damping and mix make it easy to move between subtle enhancement and more pronounced transformations while maintaining direct hands-on access throughout the process.
Add movement with responsive modulation
The integrated envelope follower helps the Razornator respond dynamically to incoming audio. Rather than remaining static, resonator behaviour can change based on the level and characteristics of the source material.
Adjustable attack and release settings allow you to fine-tune how quickly the effect reacts, while envelope modulation can be applied to damping behaviour for evolving tonal changes. Longer decay settings can generate sustained drones and lingering resonances, while shorter settings provide tighter and more controlled responses. This dynamic interaction encourages experimentation and can help static loops, rhythms and melodies develop a greater sense of movement over time.
Built for performance and integration
The Razornator is designed to work smoothly in modern studio and live environments. It includes balanced inputs and outputs, adjustable input gain suitable for line-level and guitar-level sources and comprehensive MIDI implementation. MIDI control extends across virtually all parameters, allowing automation from external controllers, sequencers and DAWs. You can even play notes from a connected MIDI keyboard to introduce chord-like overtone structures into incoming audio.
Preset management is equally flexible, with 40 factory presets, storage for 60 user presets, preset morphing options and USB backup functionality. A configurable footswitch input adds convenient hands-on control for bypassing effects, navigating presets or generating new parameter combinations during performance.
