With two independent channels and a dedicated stereo link mode, the SCL2 adapts easily to studio and live sound setups.

The SCL2 provides extensive control over compression and limiting. Each channel features adjustable threshold, ratio, attack, release, and output controls, allowing you to tailor the response to different signals. Lower ratio settings can gently smooth out performance dynamics, while higher settings help control peaks and prevent overload. Hard and soft knee modes further refine the character of compression. Soft knee operation introduces gain reduction gradually, while hard knee compression engages more directly once the threshold is reached.
When processing stereo material, the dedicated link mode ensures both channels respond together. The detector signals are combined so gain reduction is applied equally across the stereo image, helping prevent shifts in balance during louder passages. In linked operation, Channel 1 acts as the master control section, simplifying adjustment while maintaining consistent results. Channel 2 becomes a balance control, giving you quick access to output balance without affecting the linked compression settings.
The built-in noise reduction section can operate as either a gate or an expander. Gate mode rapidly attenuates signals below the selected threshold, helping minimise unwanted background noise between performances or speech. Expander mode offers a smoother alternative that preserves more natural decays, making it useful for instruments and sustained sounds. An adjustable threshold control determines when the noise reduction engages, giving you precise control over the balance between cleanliness and natural dynamics.
The detector loop expands the SCL2's processing capabilities. By inserting an equaliser into the detector path, you can tailor the compressor's response for applications such as vocal de-essing. The same connection can also be used for ducking, allowing one signal to reduce the level of another automatically. Balanced XLR and TRS inputs and outputs support integration into professional systems, while hardwire bypass allows signal to pass directly through the unit when bypassed. Clear LED metering helps you monitor performance at a glance.
