A futuristic funk machine with a retro look, the Korg RK100S2 is a modern rework of the Korg Remote Keyboard (RK) series, first appearing in 1984. The first edition, the RK100 was a midi controller for synths, breaking the stationary confines of the keys player. The "Keytar" enables the keyboardist to move freely around the stage when performing, enacting key solos front and centre, in the spotlight. Korg is historically famous for its popular synthesizers and other instruments, including the RK100S2 keytar which lives up to the Korg legacy. This fine woodgrain finished instrument provides a dynamic style of play with modern synth technology and a vintage 80s look.
The Korg RK100S2 is built from luxury natural wood usually found in high-end guitars, variations in woodgrain mean that each keytar is unique. The striking yet ergonomic shape of the RK100S2 fits comfortably in your hands and it weighs just 3.15kg with batteries fitted. The lightweight build plus helpful carrying accessories such as the included strap and carry case make the RK100S2 a portable and wieldy instrument. The keytar consists of a 37-note slim keyboard, two ribbon controllers, a preset selection and eight favourite buttons.
Equipped with over 200 presets that cover solos, chords, pads, leads and bass, these presets can be favourited and selected quickly with 8 buttons near the bottom of the keytar. An arpeggiator provides a wide range of patterns for variation. The two ribbon controls are useful for adding effect to your keys, the long ribbon has a pitch bend and filter options. the long ribbon can also be utilised for scale performance. The short ribbon acts as pitch bend and modulation, there is a button on the top of the keytar to select this. A tap temp is also available. You can use the RK100S2 as a vocoder to add electro vocals to your performance.
