The Throne Of Tone blends two of the most recognisable British amp inspired overdrive circuits into one compact and road ready pedal. One channel is based on the smooth mid gain character of the Bluesbreaker style circuit, while the other draws inspiration from the more focused and customisable King Of Tone design.
Both sides can operate independently or be stacked together, giving you a wide range of tones from clean edge to full drive. Each channel includes a voicing selector, a gain level switch and three drive modes. These modes include clean boost, standard overdrive and a more compressed distortion sound. By including these options without any internal switches or complicated layouts, the Throne Of Tone makes it easy to shape your sound and switch between tones during a live set or studio session.
Each side of the pedal includes its own tone and presence control, allowing you to adjust not just the high end but also the midrange character of your drive tone. The presence control focuses on the 500 hertz to 2.3 kilohertz range, helping you to emphasise or smooth out attack and pick response depending on the guitar and amp you are using. These controls sit alongside the traditional volume and gain knobs, giving you a full range of tone shaping options right on the face of the pedal.
A voltage boost switch on the back of the unit lets you increase the internal power from 9 volts to 18 volts. This adds extra headroom and dynamics, especially useful for players who want a bit more clarity in higher gain settings or when using the pedal with humbucking pickups.
Signal routing is another strong point of the Throne Of Tone. Each side of the pedal includes true bypass switching, which means your clean tone passes through unaffected when the pedal is off. It also includes a send and return loop, allowing you to place other pedals between the two channels.
