Key Features
The SubZero Swollen Thumb Bass Compressor Pedal is a dedicated bass compression toolkit designed to ensure your performance is tight and balanced at all times. The extended low-end that bass guitars offer makes it a real challenge to "sit" them in productions and performances - the Swollen Thumb is here to solve that!
Thanks to the all-analog circuitry, you'll be able to able to apply generous levels of compression to tame any bass, whilst still retaining the instrument's natural qualities. Comprised of just three knobs, this pedal is perfect for "evening" your performance to ensure every last nuance is heard, whilst still retaining the full weight of your low-end. Master the art of compression with the Swollen Thumb.
Please Note: This pedal does not come with a power supply. One can be purchased here.

Using compression well is seen by some to be a “dark art”. The Swollen Thumb makes it easy to apply compression to your signal in a way that works for you. At the heart of this intuitive pedal lies three controls; Attack, Sustain and Level:
If you play with a pick and your part sounds too percussive then you can smooth out your performance with a fast attack time. This is excellent in helping to “smooth” the signal by reducing sharp transients (the initial part of the waveform), allowing the bass to sit well in the mix. Slower attack times yield more punch and aggression, allowing your bass to cut through particularly dense arrangements, you’ll find this useful on rhythmic performances.
Slower sustain times are great for smoothing out the dynamics of a performance, allowing you to push the bass further back into the mix. However, be careful not to have too slow a sustain time as this can drain the life out of your performance. A faster sustain will bring out every nuance of your performance, allowing you to achieve a denser, thicker tone that most bassists strive for. Although too quick a release time can result in undesirable pumping artifacts. If this occurs, increase the release until the effect reduces.
