Sterling Axis AX50 Quilted Maple, Honey Pot Overview
The Sterling Axis AX50 Quilted Maple in Honey Pot combines bold visuals with a focused, performance-ready design aimed at modern players. Its poplar body is topped with a quilted maple veneer that adds depth and movement to the finish, while the colour-matched headstock completes the look with a premium touch. Comfortable contours and a balanced feel make the Axis easy to play for extended sessions, whether you’re practising at home, tracking in the studio, or stepping on stage.
A roasted maple neck and fretboard deliver a smooth, fast playing experience with improved stability, helping the guitar feel exactly the way you expect it to. The stripped-back control layout keeps everything intuitive, allowing you to stay focused on your playing rather than adjustments. Dual humbuckers provide a powerful, versatile sound that covers clean, driven, and high-gain tones with ease, while the double-locking tremolo system encourages expressive playing without compromising tuning stability.

Full Description
View Full DescriptionStable double-locking tremolo system
The Axis AX50 is fitted with an SBMM-designed double-locking tremolo system that keeps tuning solid even under aggressive use. By locking the strings at both the nut and bridge, it minimises movement that can cause tuning issues during dives, bends, and wide vibrato. This makes it ideal for players who rely on expressive tremolo techniques but still need consistent tuning across long sets, rehearsals, and repeated takes in the studio.
Roasted maple neck and fretboard
A roasted maple neck and fretboard give the Axis a smooth, broken-in feel straight out of the box. The roasting process improves stability by reducing moisture content in the wood, helping the neck better resist changes in temperature and humidity. Its comfortable profile and 12-inch radius support fast lead work and controlled bends, while still feeling solid under the hand for chord playing and rhythm parts.
Powerful humbuckers with simple controls
Two alnico humbuckers provide the Axis with a full, punchy sound that works well for both clean and driven tones. The bridge pickup delivers clarity and bite for cutting leads, while the neck pickup offers warmth and body for smoother passages. A single volume control and three-way toggle switch keep things intuitive, letting you shape your sound quickly without distraction and focus on dynamics, phrasing, and performance.
Distinctive Axis styling
The quilted maple veneer top gives the Axis its bold visual character, enhanced by the Honey Pot finish and matching headstock. This combination creates a premium look that stands out on stage without feeling overdone. Clean hardware lines and the absence of a pickguard keep the design sleek and modern, making the guitar feel purposeful and confident while still retaining a timeless appeal that suits a wide range of players.
