The PRS DGT Moons is the result of more than two decades of collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and David Grissom. Built on the McCarty platform, the DGT refines the classic formula with appointments designed to capture the feel and response of a broken-in vintage guitar. Its carved maple top and mahogany body deliver rich sustain, warmth and clarity, while the Tiger Eye finish highlights the instrument’s figured maple top. The unique DGT neck carve, taller frets and carefully tuned hardware combine to create an instrument that feels immediately comfortable and highly expressive.
Specially voiced DGT humbuckers were developed through extensive testing to achieve the articulate, dynamic response David Grissom wanted. Paired with dual volume controls and a master tone with push/pull coil splitting, it offers exceptional. PRS Phase III locking tuners and the patented Gen II tremolo ensure outstanding tuning stability and smooth performance, while the rosewood fretboard with classic moon inlays delivers a refined traditional look. The DGT represents one of PRS’s most refined artist collaborations, developed over more than twenty years. Rather than simply adapting an existing design, the DGT was carefully shaped around the feel, response and tonal personality Grissom wanted from a true player’s instrument. Built from the McCarty platform, it introduces a dedicated DGT neck carve, taller fret wire and a revised electronics layout that create an instrument with the feel and character of a well-loved vintage guitar. Every detail was refined through years of touring, recording and real-world performance experience.
The DGT humbuckers were developed after extensive A/B testing between more than forty different pickup sets to achieve the perfect balance of warmth, articulation and dynamic response. The result is a pickup set with a distinctly vintage-inspired voice and a subtle Texas-style character that excels across clean, edge-of-breakup and driven tones. Individual volume controls for each pickup allow highly detailed blending between neck and bridge sounds, while the push/pull master tone control activates coil splits for brighter, more focused single-coil-style textures.
The one-piece mahogany neck features PRS’s dedicated DGT profile, designed to feel substantial yet highly playable. Taller PRS jumbo fret wire improves note control, vibrato and bending accuracy, helping lead lines feel smooth and expressive across the entire fretboard. The 25" scale length balances string tension and warmth perfectly, while the rosewood fretboard with classic moon inlays reinforces the guitar’s traditional aesthetic. Combined with the sculpted violin carve maple top and ergonomic body contours, the DGT offers a comfortable and highly responsive playing experience.
