Expanded ambient sound design
The Mooer Ocean Machine Devin Townsend Signature Pedal is built for ambitious soundscaping. At its core are two fully independent delay engines and a rich reverb module, each offering nine carefully voiced effect types. From crystal-clear digital echoes to more abstract choices like rainbow and galaxy delays, and reverbs like spring, reverse, and modulated, you get a vast palette for crafting immersive sonic textures. These effects are not only diverse but can also be layered and manipulated with real-time control, making it easy to build complex, atmospheric chains that reflect Devin Townsend’s own experimental style. The addition of freeze functionality across both delay and reverb modules allows users to generate drones and ambient pads that evolve with every performance.
Powerful looping functionality
Looping has received a major upgrade in the Ocean Machine II, offering up to 120 seconds of high-quality stereo recording. This more than doubles the original’s capacity and opens up deeper possibilities for live layering, overdubbing, and experimental improvisation. You can loop at half speed or in reverse, giving you complete control over the structure and texture of your sound. From ambient pads to rhythmic sequences, the enhanced looper gives you the tools to push creative boundaries in both studio settings and live shows. The looping interface is also streamlined and intuitive, accessed via one of the three footswitches and easily managed through the LCD screen and onboard controls.
Customisable routing and control
One of the most powerful aspects of the Ocean Machine II is its programmable signal routing. You can choose to run your effects in series or parallel, a feature that’s central to Devin Townsend’s tone design. This hybrid routing system gives you full creative freedom to shape the way effects interact and stack, allowing for everything from subtle enhancement to chaotic layering. MIDI In and Thru ports add even more flexibility, letting you sync and control the pedal as part of a wider rig. You can also connect an expression pedal or use the optional Mooer F4 wireless footswitch for expanded real-time control and preset management, making it a dynamic tool for live performance.
Modern connectivity and stage-ready design
Built with professional use in mind, the Ocean Machine II features full stereo I/O, global EQ settings, and selectable bypass modes, offering seamless integration into any setup. You can choose between true bypass for tone purity or DSP bypass to maintain ambient trails when switching effects. The large LCD screen and 12 responsive knobs allow you to edit in real time, while the USB-C port supports firmware updates to keep your pedal up to date with new features. Physically, it’s housed in a rugged chassis designed to withstand touring demands, ensuring reliable performance on stage and in the studio. Every detail, from the controls to the connectivity, has been crafted to inspire creativity without compromise.
