Smooth SR Playability

For the past 30 years, Ibanez SR bass guitars have been honed towards smooth playability, versatile tones, and sleek aesthetics. If you're seeking the ultimate all-rounder, this is the instrument for you.

The SR500 has deep double cutaway body with a highly contoured design for comfort over long playing sessions. The low-profile bolt-on neck joint, in combination with the lower horn, enables easy access to all 24 frets, so you'll have no barriers to the top of the fingerboard and can fully exploit each string's 2-octave span.

The neck has a thin profile and a flat 305mm radius fingerboard enabling controlled reach over all 4 strings. 24 medium frets are smoothly finished and create the smooth surface you need for low-range grooves and high-range solos.

Resonant and Stable Tonewoods

A mahogany body gives the SR500 its warm and resonant core tone. The neck is crafted from walnut and jotoba which enhances the sustain. The neck is mounted to the body with a deep neck-joint for enhanced string vibration transfer, while the fixed ensures precise intonation and delivers string-to-body vibration conductively.

The neck is crafted from 5 pieces of wood which enhances its strength, resonance, and sustain. This has the by-product of giving you an instrument with better tuning stability meaning you won't need to worry about making constant tuning adjustments during long gigs and practice sessions.

Versatile Electronics

Ibanez's own Bartoloini pickups have a very wide frequency response like traditional single coils, but they are free from hum giving you a professional noise-free performance under stage lights and near other sources of interference.

The pickups have an equal output and can be blended together to create the perfect mix of bridge-position bite and neck-position warmth. The SR500 also includes a 3-band active EQ and a mid-frequency switch which offers a huge span of tonal variations which will help you adapt your tone to chordal playing, soloing, and general riffing.
