The Mark Morton Les Paul Modern Quilt is built around a mahogany body featuring Ultra Modern weight relief, reducing overall weight without sacrificing sustain or resonance. This design keeps the instrument comfortable during extended performances while retaining the familiar depth and punch associated with a Les Paul. Topped with an AAA quilt maple cap, the guitar delivers enhanced clarity and articulation, while the single-ply binding on the top and fretboard frames the finish with a refined, modern look.
A mahogany neck with a SlimTaper profile provides a fast, comfortable feel that suits both aggressive rhythm playing and fluid lead work. The modern contoured heel allows easy access to the upper frets, removing the traditional limitations often associated with single-cut designs. An ebony fingerboard with 22 frets and mother-of-pearl trapezoid inlays adds a smooth, precise playing surface, while the 24.75-inch scale length maintains the familiar Gibson response.
Two Mark Morton signature humbuckers power the guitar, designed by the Gibson Pickup Shop to capture his distinctive tone. The rhythm pickup uses moderate, PAF-style windings with a ceramic magnet to deliver clarity, punch, and tight low-end response. The lead pickup features hotter windings for increased output and presence, making it ideal for soaring solos and cutting lead tones. Both pickups are wired to individual volume and tone controls for flexible sound shaping, and together they provide a voice that's perfect for metal a range of guitar-driven genres.
Hardware choices reinforce the guitar’s modern performance focus, including an aluminium Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminium stop bar tailpiece for enhanced sustain and tuning stability. Grover Rotomatic locking tuners with Keystone buttons ensure quick string changes and reliable tuning. Finished in satin nitrocellulose lacquer, the Translucent Ebony Burst Satin finish highlights the quilt maple top while complementing the chrome hardware. A modern hardshell case includes Mark Morton signature details, Stringjoy strings, and a Gibson accessory kit.
