Key Features
The Gibson Custom 1959 ES-355 Reissue is a slick, high-spec tribute to one of Gibson’s classiest semi-hollows. Built with a maple/poplar/maple body and solid centre block, it delivers that unmistakable ES tone – warm, open, and full of life – with the control and sustain you'd expect from a centre-block design.
Finished in Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged Ebony and loaded with unpotted Custombuckers, this 355 is all about touch and tone. From the slick ebony fretboard to the lightweight stop bar tailpiece, every part of this guitar is made to feel like an old friend. And with gold hardware, a Lifton case, and certificate of authenticity, it's the full Custom Shop experience – no compromises.

This 1959 ES-355 Reissue is Gibson Custom at full tilt – vintage-spec tonewoods, period-correct construction, and just the right amount of aged character. With a 3-ply maple/poplar/maple body and solid maple centre block, you get that lively semi-hollow resonance, controlled by the feedback-fighting centre block that’s made the ES range so enduring. It’s responsive, clear, and full of the harmonic depth players chase in golden-era guitars.
Finished in Murphy Lab’s Ultra Light Aged Ebony nitro, this 355 has all the vibe of a vintage original – without the heavy finish checking. Light lacquer checking and subtle hardware patina give it a gently worn-in feel that looks the part without going overboard. It’s thin, it breathes, and it lets the tonewoods do their job. The gold hardware and bound appointments complete the look with the class the ES-355 has always been known for.
Loaded with a pair of unpotted Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups, this guitar has warmth, bite and clarity in spades. These are the same pickups used in high-end Historic builds – open, dynamic, and incredibly touch-sensitive. Paired with handwired 50s-style electronics, they offer a wide tonal palette that responds naturally to your playing, from mellow jazz comping to bold lead runs that jump out of the mix.
Under your hands, this thing feels rock solid. The solid mahogany Medium C neck is joined with a long tenon and topped with a smooth ebony board and 22 medium jumbo frets. Grover tuners keep everything tight, the aluminium stop bar adds resonance, and the ABR-1 bridge nails that vintage feel. It ships with a Lifton hardshell case and certificate – exactly what you’d expect from a guitar that doesn’t just wear the Custom Shop badge, but lives up to it.
