Key Features
The Gibson Custom 1956 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue VOS is a stunning recreation of one of the most charismatic guitars in Gibson's long history. With an all-solid mahogany body, a plain maple top fitted with hide glue, and that unmistakable Double Gold finish, it's a guitar that immediately feels special in the hands. This Reissue captures the vibe and attitude of a mid-'50s Les Paul, complete with vintage-accurate P-90 pickups that offer a lively mix of clarity, punch, and growl. From bluesy bite to thick rock rhythms, the '56 formula delivers tones that are effortlessly expressive.
A long-tenon mahogany neck with a '50s Rounded Medium C carve gives the guitar a reassuringly traditional feel, while the Indian rosewood fingerboard and narrow/tall Historic frets make bends and vibrato beautifully responsive. Period-correct hardware such as the no-wire ABR-1 bridge, lightweight aluminium stop bar and Kluson tuners keep the guitar playing and sounding authentic. Finished in Gibson's VOS nitro treatment for subtle ageing, this is a faithful, resonant Les Paul built for players who want a true slice of Gibson heritage.

At the heart of this Reissue is a pair of Custom Soapbar P-90 pickups, voiced to capture the raw edge and musical bite of the originals. These pickups deliver a wide dynamic range, responding instantly to pick attack and volume changes. From punchy cleans through to snarling overdrive, the ’56 Goldtop remains effortlessly expressive. Paper-in-oil capacitors and CTS audio taper pots complete the classic signal path for true vintage character.
The 1956 Goldtop Reissue uses an all-solid lightweight mahogany body paired with a two-piece maple top, both joined using hot hide glue for maximum energy transfer. This traditional construction gives the guitar a lively, open acoustic response that translates beautifully once plugged in. The lightweight aluminium stop bar and nickel-plated brass saddles further enhance sustain and clarity, creating a guitar that feels alive beneath your fingers.
A long-tenon mahogany neck with a ’50s Rounded Medium C profile delivers a classic, substantial feel that players love. The Indian rosewood fingerboard is fitted with Historic narrow/tall frets that make vibrato and intonation smooth and controlled. Aged cellulose nitrate trapezoid inlays, a nylon nut and authentic stepped truss rod cover contribute to the faithful recreation of the 1956 aesthetic.
The Double Gold nitrocellulose finish is treated with Gibson’s VOS process, giving the guitar a subtly aged sheen that feels well loved rather than relic’d. Cream Royalite binding, butyrate Gold Top Hat knobs and a brown/pink Lifton reissue case complete the vintage package. Every element has been recreated with exceptional attention to detail, making this Reissue as stunning visually as it is sonically.
