Key Features
The Fender Custom Shop '60 Telecaster Custom Heavy Relic RW, Super Faded Aged Lake Placid Blue is a meticulously crafted tribute to a road-worn early '60s Tele. Built from a two-piece alder body and finished in Super Faded Aged Lake Placid Blue, it carries the unmistakable look of a well-played vintage instrument. The Heavy Relic treatment adds authentic wear throughout the body and hardware, recreating the feel of a guitar that has spent decades on stage. Parchment body binding completes the classic Telecaster Custom aesthetic, giving the instrument a striking vintage presence.
The neck pairs quarter-sawn maple with a AAA rosewood slab fingerboard for a traditional early-'60s feel. A '60 Style Oval C profile, 9.5" radius, and narrow tall 6105 fret wire provide a comfortable modern playing surface while retaining vintage character. Electronics are handled by hand-wound ’58 Tele neck and bridge pickups, controlled by a modern Tele wiring layout with a three-way selector and knurled chrome knobs. Vintage clay dot inlays, a bone nut, and relic-finished hardware round out a build that blends authentic period details with Custom Shop craftsmanship.

This Telecaster Custom features Fender’s Heavy Relic finish treatment, carefully applied to simulate the wear and ageing of a heavily played vintage instrument. The Super Faded Aged Lake Placid Blue finish shows the softened colour and exposed edges you would expect from decades of use. Hardware components also receive relic ageing, helping the guitar feel naturally broken-in straight out of the case. The result is a visually striking instrument with the tactile feel of a well-loved classic.
The body is constructed from two pieces of alder, a traditional tonewood used on many early Fender instruments. Alder is known for its balanced response, producing clear lows, focused mids, and bright highs that suit the Telecaster’s naturally articulate voice. This model follows the Telecaster Custom style, complete with binding on both the top and bottom edges of the body. That detail gives the guitar its distinctive '60s Custom appearance while also framing the Super Faded Lake Placid Blue finish.
The neck is carved from quarter-sawn maple, offering strong stability and consistent resonance. Paired with it is a AAA-grade rosewood slab fingerboard measuring 9 mm thick, providing a smooth playing surface and warm tonal response. The neck profile is a '60 Style Oval C, with measurements of approximately .790" at the first fret and .930" at the twelfth. A 9.5-inch radius and narrow tall 6105 frets allow for comfortable bending and precise fretting while maintaining a vintage-inspired feel.
This Custom Shop Telecaster is fitted with hand-wound ’58 Tele pickups in both the neck and bridge positions. These pickups deliver the classic Telecaster combination of warm neck tones and sharp bridge bite, making them suitable for a wide range of styles from blues and country to rock. The electronics use a modern Telecaster control layout with a selector switch and master controls, allowing quick access to the instrument’s full tonal range while preserving its traditional character.
